Further cat updates.

So a week after he was drained of 1.25 litres of fluid, he'd put it all back on. He poddled along for another few weeks, then we went on holiday and took him to our usual cattery. Unfortunately we got a call on the last day of our holiday from the in-laws, they had to take him to the vets and get him put down. Typical cat, he'd spent the best part of 20 months at death's door and then decided to shuffle off this mortal coil at the most inconvenient moment. Couple of weeks later and I'm still expecting the lazy bastard to turn up when opening the fridge :(

He was pretty old (14 years) and was only given a few weeks to live back in November 2015. His quality of life had been ok though right up to the last day (aside from just lying about the place all the time) so he did ok.

Harley was 1 at the end of July. Sadly for her, the spay was booked in for the day after, but she's fully recovered now.

I would have put good money on Ad7 being the type of person that detested people referring to dogs birthdays.

Ad7 is making a lot of typos recently. I think I may have infected him some how over the web.

Had someone's dog turn up in a garden yesterday. Rang the number on his collar but by the time the owners arrived almost wanted to tell them to leave him with us, friendliest dog I've ever met. Think he was bored at home so decided to go on a 2 mile walk to find someone to play with

We got our first cat today. He's a rescue cat called Billy. He's lovely, but I am biased.

So, just before we went on holiday the other week I spotted a little brown cat in the garden sniffing around our bird table (we usually throw some cat food around the base of the table for the hedgehogs). I thought it might have just been one of the neighbours cats taking advantage of our garden as we'd taken our two to the cattery, so I didn't think much of it even though it looked a little worse for wear.

Let the cats out today, and a few minutes later I hear a bit of a yowl from the garden. Not proper cat-fighting constant yowling, just like a little bickering yowl. The kind of noise cats make at birds they can't jump at. Look out the window and my cat is sitting at the bottom of the garden, with the same little brown cat on the fence above it. Went out to try and get our cat in (because they're super territorial and so they quite often fight with other cats), and noticed that the little brown cat could barely walk. Pretty sure it's a stray at this point, so I took a little bowl of food out to it. She came over and started scoffing and got down it in seconds! Put the bowl down on the bench so she'd jump down to it and gingerly picked her up to stick her in one of our cat boxes (luckily they were all still easy to grab as all the cats had just come back from the cattery), so I've just been watching it for a while and feeding it every now and then to make sure it doesn't gorge itself and vomit everywhere.

It's a cute little cat, but it's obviously got some pretty bad stuff wrong with it (it's got mange, and fleas, and possibly an ear infection and definitely worms, considering the state it's in). My parents have run it up to the vets now, so I'm hoping they'll be able to do something with it. As the cats didn't instantly start fighting there's a chance we could keep her if someone can fix everything that's wrong with her. We'll see.

Terrible picture because she was in the cat box and SUPER HUNGRY so she wouldn't sit still for long:

Little cat update: The prognosis from the vets is that she's reasonably old and she's a stray (no collar, no chip, and she obviously hasn't been to a home for weeks if not months), but there's nothing drastically wrong with her (no cat aids or anything infectious), so we're okay to keep it around our other two. So we've put her up in the conservatory as a little quarantine bedroom while she's on the anitbiotics the vets gave us (and while she's still flea-ridden. We've only just got the other two clean). Now she's got a little bit of food inside her she's getting around a lot better than she was, but she's still very frail. Think if we hadn't taken her in we'd have had a dead cat in our garden within the week.

Had to give the vet a name for her, so for the time being we've christened her in accordance to the naming of the other cats, so we've now got Sam, Max and Bosco.

State of that.

Poor little thing! :(

I've had to adopt a cat - Maia - since moving in with my GF. Lovely little thing. No trouble at all, unlike Loki who is currently lying next to me in a huff because I stopped playing with him to do a bit of work a few minutes ago. Keeps giving me the evils, the spoiled git.

Poor cat. At least she's going to be given a good home for her last few years.

Bit of a long shot, but anyone know of any non prescription pain killers for dogs? I think the partner of someone on here is a vet so would appreciate any (free) help.

Yes?

It's been a while since anyone posted pics of their pets, so here's Loki, being inquisitive.

Assume you've been sorted by now but you can use paracetamol, 10mg per kg dosage. You should still probably talk to a vet beforehand though!
