Where’s the cheapest place to get a PS4 controller? The right hand trigger on mine keeps getting stuck, which is really annoying. Everywhere I look seems to be £40. :dread:

Open it up and find the source of your stickiness. Then you get a free working controller :)

I assumed it was just broken, but that’s actually a decent idea – check it before splashing out any cash.

Are they easy for a hamfisted fool to open up and put back together?

I managed to open mine up and replace the battery, and I'm basically an idiot. It might be worth trying some WD40 to see if you can sort it first. If it's strawberry floated anyway, you've got nothing to lose.

Sounds like it is an idiot proof job so I will give it a go.

If you do WD40 it make sure no electronics are still attached to the controller and it's conductive and will short the board if it gets on it. I'd image that when you open it up it will be pretty obvious what's stopping it from working properly.

In terms of how easy it is to open up and put back together it's idiot proof. So I guess this only leaves one obvious question as to whether you want to try it or not.... :)

Apparently alcohol gel is good for cleaning inside them.

The question being “Are you more or less of an idiot than Poser?”

I like them odds. :datass:

Moggy's wife found his horrifically scorched corpse just 10 minutes later :(

Apparently Game are doing a part exchange for a new controller, old one + £15. Don't know how much testing they do though.

Yes?

Real talk, IIRC the only fiddly bit was the springs for the R2/L2 triggers. Prising the thing apart takes a bit of faith, too, but honestly, it's all good. You can do it with a kitchen knife.

Nobody has said that to me since I asked how to silence the witnesses.

This sounds interesting! I'd like to part-exchange my current PS4 controller but I've looked online and can't spot this offer, though...

I just watched a video and it does look fiddly. Still if Poser can do it...

I’ll have a go tomorrow when the wife and kid are at the in-laws and I can shout swear words.

Ah, I think I get it - they're offering £22 as part-exchange trade-in value for a DualShock 4; and selling new ones at around £40, which means I'd need to add an extra £18 cash.

My current controller works but the plastic has crumbled a bit on the left stick (so I have put a plastic cap on it) and the serial number sticker has worn... all thanks to my PES online play  .

Nice spot, Deaths! Looking at the small print, it states "no damage to controller or buttons" and I guess my slightly crumbly left stick wouldn't pass that test. Might try it next week anyway, though!

I would expect it to work. If not, can't really see the point of the offer "give us your perfectly good controller and £14.99 and we will give you a brand new perfectly good controller".

Yes?
