Now even though I have stayed spoiler-free it's obvious from the coverage which of the unknows will make it through (if someone is not on the feature table and they are getting a 5minute video and sob story then they aren't going to bust out anytime soon).

I also don't know if for example Phil Ivey even played this year, or if there were any classic Helmuth lines as he got busted on day 1 (again, no idea if he even played). I'll have to look it up on the internet to find out what happened in the first few days, but I wont be doing that yet for fear of spoilers.

Even just one episode devoted to the pre-bubble action would better than only showing the 2nd half of the tournament.

I totally agree 100%. ESPN's coverage has gone backwards in recent years in almost every department. The only things that have stayed consistent are how slick a product the WSOP coverage is and the enduring duo of Lon and Norm. Final Table coverage took a massive leap forward with cards up coverage on a short delay but then they decided to butcher the FT completely by having it play out over three nights. The WSOP themselves aren't really in a position of power to object either as no other networks are particularly interested in hosting the coverage. It would be fun if all the FT participants said "We want to play the FT over one or two nights only and that's that".

I am in two minds.

My first mind is that I miss the bubble bursting moment.

My second mind is that I actually think the hand coverage hand-by-hand is better as a result of the decisions mattering more.

My third mind wants to slap Gaelle Baumann's boring miserable face. Urgh.

That Kassouf guy is somehow more annoying than the alright guy. How are you supposed to concentrate when there's someone talking at you relentlessly?

I think hes great. Speech is part of the game, and he uses it expertly. You get players talking BS all the time at tables, if you let it affect you or you aren't considering using it yourself, you maybe missing a trick. Theres a hand where he tilts Selbst in an EPT thats pretty special.

Its fair to say coming into this tournament his results are pretty special as well, hes a rising star. I'd kill to see a PartyPoker Premier League style format with that guy in the mix.

He does make for compelling telly and I agree speech is part of the game. However, there's a difference between 'table talk' and someone who is relentlessly in your face not giving you a second to actually think about your decision.

It just seems like a tactic to filibuster someone's thought process but in a way that is against the spirit of the game. Like if I want a few moments of silence to mull my decision over I should be able to get that.

I never had a problem with what Jamie Gold did and I think the WSOP went way over the top with the rule changes they made as a result of his table talk, but this is way different.

Agreed there's table talk, banter and then him.

The big hand where she has QQ she had no time to think then the guy who called clock was also out of line.

I don't buy this ' no time to think'. She must have a plan with that hand. If he's talking bullshit, just ignore it and play your game. It's amazing to see the American players so flustered by it. Her fold is absolutely terrible and super exploitable. I've played with some of the most irritating players on the planet and I just try to school them and not let their speech play affect them. In fact, the little wolf I have Lobo that comes to the bigger games with me is a tilt tactic, and it WORKS. In the Cardiff GPPT, one guy lost his mind against me. That's good play from me.

Live poker does not equal online poker. There's reads, speech play and chiptells. If you can't handle the heat go back to the computer!

Negreanu has come out on Twitter and called the treatment of Kassouf despicable and I agree. He's good for poker.

I don't disagree that table talk is an effective tool - I just think his incessant rabbiting goes beyond that.

Negreanu has just put a podcast up with Kassouf as the guest, should be fun listening.

Went to my local last night for the first time in about a year.

Only went and won the poker tourney :)

£365 and then won a further £140 on the slots

I only went down to get some practice in for Vegas as I've not played live for a long time :)

Eps 5 and 6:

Kassouf actually was playing really well I thought. He definitely knows what he's doing when he winds people up with his talk.

Agreed with both. Looking forward to the blowup he has with the WSOP on Day 7 (as per the podcast).

Good god, please end this year of poker.

I have never run so badly in my whole life. It feels like an age since I last cashed, never mind won. I'm getting very very frustrated at it, it seems like its never going to end. Some of my best mates keep commenting at how much they think my game has moved on, but I'm getting absolutely no reward for it. Its totally in my head at this point and although I keep doing the right things, making the right moves they just aren't getting rewarded. If they do get rewarded I go utterly card dead for seemingly days and get destroyed that way before getting it in in a flip or better and losing.

I'm fairly sure no-one in this thread has gone through quite the cold decks that Ive been going through for this long, I just want one result to prove to myself it can still happen. :(

The fact in so many tournaments I'm hero folding Jacks to Queens and Aces all the sodding time and STILL find a way to get coolered later on shows what an utter gooseberry fool show it is at the moment.
