And they have to give up a days leave to get it so they're still going to be working additional hours for that money.

The Mail and Express will probably spin it as something like "Greedy consultants on £200,000/year refuse to give up a days holiday to save our NHS!!!!!!!!!1111111"

I think they've scrapped the holiday sacrifice plan now.

Using the same adding up method, Inflation over the next 3 years is predicted to be 8.75% so the 6% average will defibitely be a cut for most.

What's a pay rise? Not including promotions, I've never had one. Private sector FTW

We have been on 1% pay rises for the last 5 years or so. They announced yesterday that we are getting a 1.5% rise. So still effectively a pay cut then.

The only way to get a proper pay rise in the private sector is to switch (or threaten to switch) jobs every few years.

Which is really inefficient for the economy, but hey ho.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I've been lucky enough to have a couple of pay hikes due to my role advancing, but if it hadn't I'd have been stuck on the same salary indefinitely. Like in our call centre, for example, they've been the same salary for as long as I've worked at the company (more than 6 years now).

Our company generally gives us 2% pay increases each year.

I'm probably earning the least I have for 5-6 years and will only get a 1% pay rise.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Ours are up to 5% depending on performance, plus a 5% bonus also dependent on performance i believe. Annoyingly I haven't been here long enough to get anything this year as I have only been here for 2 months and you need to be out of probation for at least 6 months before being eligible.

May repeated the "£450m extra for the police" lie again today :fp:

Corbyn's opening question was a good one:
"Is the collapse of Northamptonshire council the result of Conservative incompetence at a local level or Conservative incompetence at a national level?"
Shame she ignored it

Ian Blackford raised the Cambridge Analytics links:
"Can I point out that the parent company of Cambridge Analytica, Strategic Communications Laboratory, it has been run by a chairman of Oxford Conservative Association, its founding chairman was a former Conservative MP, a director appears to have donated over £700,000 to the Tory party, a former Conservative party chairman is a shareholder. We know about the links to the Conservative party, they go on and on."
May's answer was that she 'wasn't aware' of any 'current' contracts with Cambridge Analytica. Suggesting there may have been used previously as suspected.
Edit: Also she was talking about government contracts rather than tye Tory party. Sneaky!

The NHS pay deal actually seems to be much better than expected. Top earners will see pay 'increase' of 6.5% but lower earners will see bigger rises of up to 29% over the same period. If there's no hidden catches then that seems quite a decent offer.

Expected they losing leave so that will knock the rise a bit as it is transfering the money from one place to another.

Only for England. I am stuck waiting for action while Stormont MLAs sit on their fat arses and twiddling their thumbs and watching their generous salaries rolls in. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to drive past the place every day on my way to work.

This thread feels a little stale today, so methinks it's time for some dodgy political music to make you all cringe/vomit...

I suspect that driving through the Upper Newtownards Road doesn't help as well. You'd probably get stuck in a traffic jam outside Stormont, thus increasing your rage.

I haven't had a pay increase in years. The money I have earned has increased each year due to the tax threshold being increased. But inflation probably knocks out any gains from that.

Another Labour sacking, i wonder just how many shadow ministers Corbyn's got through since becoming leader?
