Greg James is strawberry floating awful. I hate his horrible nasal whiney voice. They probably moved him because he's younger and down with da kids.

strawberry floating hell, just looked to see what the R1 schedule is like these days, it's basically T4 FM :fp:

Does anyone know why Greg James took over from Scott Mills on radio 1? I thought Scott's show was doing well, and only expected him to move to the morning slot :(

Scott Mills has gone?? He was the only good presenter on R1.

They have some strawberry floating awful DJs on there. "Co'on" and "Yates", Moyles, Vernon Kay, Huw Whatshisname.. Ugh. Just so bad. :fp: :fp:

Thank god I don't have a car anymore and travel by tube instead.

He's been moved from 4 to 7 to 1 to 4, which is basically a demotion :(

I actually don't mind Chris Moyles, but can't stand the rest of his team (that Comedy Dave chap is particular is horrendous). I've also got a soft spot for Reggie Yates too, seems like a lovely guy. That being said, I'm not a big radio listener anymore (though I've listened to a fair few Absolute Radio podcasts over the years), and when I do, it's mostly shows on R4.

I miss the good old days of Mills in the 4am slot (great background listening when doing all-nighters), Mark % Lard's afternoon show and then Moyles straight after.

I recently moved my old stereo into the living room and hooked it up to my Sky box. I find thought that all I listen to is Absolute Radio 90's, while playing Trials Evolution.

Currently trawling through the Kermode and May Film Review archive. It really is an amazing show. I used to hate Kermode when he popped up on Newsnight; always thought he came across as pretentious and snobby but he's ace.

I hate Moyles. Literally find it baffling that people are entertained by it.

Ta for moving thread mystery mod :)

Big Bump - picking up loads of Radio 4 stuff from audible.

How great is Cabin Pressure? Blitzed in all in short order.

I’ve moved onto Spotify now, but still love me a bit of Trials.

BBC Radio 1's audience has dropped to its lowest level for more than a decade after the station lost a million listeners over the past year.

About 9.5 million adults a week tuned in between April and June compared with 10.4 million during the same period in 2015, audience trackers Rajar said.
Radio 1 said the figures were "only part of the picture" and that its digital platforms had grown.
But the station now has its smallest radio audience since 2003.
Breakfast host Nick Grimshaw has 5.4 million listeners per week - down 400,000 year-on-year but unchanged from the first three months of 2016

Has there ever been a time when Radio 1 hasn't been utter gash? Surprised at 5 Live gaining listeners, it's basically the same few stories repeated incessantly all day long.

The only point to Radio 1 is to listen to new music without putting up with adverts. But they play gash music that they repeat all day and have DJs talking for longer than any ad break would last on a commercial station.

Grimshaw is dire.

I'm alright on Greg James, but I miss Mills on the drive home :(

Not that I radio much now. It's all about Audio books/plays. I'm so grown up.

Greg James and Scott Mills are both pretty good. Grimshaw was great on his late night show but is absolutely dire in the breakfast slot, incessant inane Kardashian chat and the like.
