Is this going to be another Dave special? I wasn't mad on that, although it did get a bit better by the end.

Absolutely can't wait for this  . I don't care if it's shite, I just want to see more of Lister, Kryten, Rimmer and Cat. Tried to get tickets for the filming but was unsuccessful :(.

I'll admit I'd said my goodbye to Red Dwarf after season 8. It was never the same after Rob Grant left and 7+8, while having a good few episodes, never really recaptured the same feel. I was happy for it to end the way it did.

The Dave specials from a few years ago I couldn't even bring myself to finish watching. I saw the first two and had absolutely no inclination to watch the last part. I was highly disappointed. At times it just seemed they were doing impressions of characters they'd played a decade earlier. It's very much the Indy 4 of Red Dwarf for me.

Still, I'm willing to give this one final chance. It's Red Dwarf after all. Seasons 1-8 will always be a loved part of my life and I look forward to showing it to my kids in years to come.

EDIT: Just downloaded and watched the Back To Earth specials all the way through. I probably misjudged them a bit. It's certainly better than I remember thinking it was and there were a few parts that made me smirk in the way Red Dwarf does. I'm not changing my position that it probably should have been left at 8 but I'm not as disappointed in it as I was.

Epic Lol.

That is a scene that has to be read to be truly appreciated.

In the book they expand it because they spend several years there. He ends up having sex with a mountain girl.

That particular scene is described from the Cats POV.

One of the best things the BBC ever did, the books are all brilliant as well and have more of a consistent story line to them.

Series X, really? Is this by Dave again?

Red Dwarf

Have to agree with Oblomov Boblomov. In the past I've thought there were big dips in the series, but having recently bought the box set I just love the whole lot more and more. Really excited to see this! :D

Spoilered for massive!

Also, this is a fantastic read, especially for those of you who weren't sold on Back to Earth. No spoilers either. :)

If what they said about it feeling more like series V and VI with some of II thrown in is accurate, I'll be a very, very happy camper. VII was mostly good but VIII just felt wrong, in so many ways.

The very first episode of Red Dwarf is available to download for FREE for the next week from iTunes (UK). Series 1-8 and Back to Earth SD edition are all down to £4.99 and we're also TV Series of the Week. We do like to milk our birthday celebrations ;)

I really enjoyed series 8, I thought it was much stronger than 7. It set up nicely for a 9th series getting back to basics but obviously it never happened. Being on Dave actually gives me a bit of hope as the budget should remain low which will keep the style more in line with the earlier series.

7 dipped after Rimmer left. I used to proper fancy Chloe Annett when I was 14 (still do, really) but she was no Chris Barrie.

8 at least tried to be different and the Lister/Rimmer bunk scenes were great.
For me VI remains the benchmark X will be judged on.

Some of the stuff with Lister and Rimmer in prison was great. It was a nice change, especially when they joined the canaries!
