Ending of the episode:

... This is a dream isn't it...
Yeah, but you're not awake yet!

Series 7 was rare in that it only had 2 episodes. And what are you talking about, series 8? After episode 2 of series 7, Red Dwarf left our screens and did not return for many years.

Finally caught up on series X and XI after not really watching them at the time. They're definitely better than either series VII or VIII but still pretty poor compared to the Grant Naylor series.

It gains a lot by basically ignoring everything that happened post series VI - returning to the simple structure of the 4 dwarfers on the ship encountering things was a smart move. But there is just something off about everything - the characterisation, the way the crew interact and react to scenarios just didn't really seem right.

Still, there's a lot worse comedy out there so I'll happily watch the newer series of this over most of the other crap available.

While nowhere near the quality of the earlier series, I've enjoyed the Dave produced series. Hopefully the new series is decent!

Hope you aren't including that god awful 3 part back to earth shite! That nearly killed any goodwill I had for RD. thankfully they sorted their gooseberry fool out and the series were surprisingly good.

I had forgotten about that one. In fact I don't think it ever existed.

Aren't you a policeman? It's surely against police protocols to lie about non-existent Red Dwarf episodes?

I'm reporting you to the head of the police.

Watched this last night, was a good first episode. Not up there with the best but as good as any of the other recent episodes I'd say. Some nice bits of banter between them too, well worth a watch.

Everything felt a bit tame for me. Seemed to be quite poorly edited in parts as well, which was odd and certainly didn't help. Enjoyed it overall, obviously. Thought Hitler did a pretty good job .

I'm fairly sure the next episode is the one I saw recorded .
