5 is a great episode, 6 is genuinely up there in probably tier 3 of the entire collection.

Episode 4 down - a definite improvement in the first 3 episodes, not a classic but it had some solid laughs.

One thing I've noticed is that the studio audience do have a tendancy to over do it though which can be off putting - they went way OTT when talkie toaster showed up - it was almost exactly the same jokes as his sequences from S5, just not as well written or delivered, yet you'd think it was comedy genius from the way the audience were reacting!

Right, episodes 5 and 6 done!

The second half of this series is considerably better than the first half - nothing in there that is going to trouble anyone's list of classic 'Dwarf episodes I don't think but certainly some of the best we've seen since the show came back (and better than most of what we had in S7 or 8)

There are still odd things about it that frustrate though, like them reading through the captains appraisals of the crew, Rimmer already did that way back in S1! Obviously the show has always had its fair share of retconning (like when the original crew count suddenly jumped from 169 to 1169...), and most creations reach a point where the audience know/remember more about it than the creator - but this was a simple scenario just repeated!

Either way episode 4-6 are far better than 1-3 and managed to redeem this series which was on course for being the worst of the Dave era stuff (ignoring Back to Earth for obvious reasons!)

Yeah. I'd say season 12 overall is my favourite of the new ones.. (10 onwards) mostly because of these last three episodes. My only worry with that though is I'm not sure how much of that's down to nostalgia and nods to old stuff (
Lister being reset to his earlier self, talkie toaster, holly etc..
) - if they do make another series, they can't rely on just wheeling out old characters and jokes forever so I hope they can maintain the quality level with new material.

I also hope they bring Holly back full time as assumedly his appearance means they've mended whatever bridges Norman Lovett had seemingly burnt prior and I think he'd add a nice bit of extra variety to the gags that's been missing without him. He's looking a bit old but they could write that off as a software issue after he got flooded or whatever..

Guess they could bring Hattie back otherwise, say the drying out process caused some issues and reverted him back to his female form or something.. I think I always preferred male Holly for his deadpan stupidity, but Hattie seems a much nicer person they get on with.

I went to Em-Con in Nottingham earlier in the year which had the cast barring Lister and Kryten including Norman and Hattie. It kinda felt like they were tolerating Norman being there and he seemed like he was trying to cause arguments with every question he answered. For Kryten discussion he said how he always preferred the original Kryten actor to Robert Llewellyn much to the others disgust and then there were some other little bits that made it a bit awkward to watch. Chris Barrie was amazing though.. if the rumours of a live show are true it should be hilarious, they were really funny on the panel just being themselves. We even got a Gordon Brittas impression at one point.

They definitely need to bring Holly back. I had no idea Lovett was a bit of a dick, but Hattie was decent enough and they could even just recast and get a third actor to play Holly if they wanted to avoid too much nostalgia.

Found this video from the convention, not the best quality but just before 20mins in it starts getting a bit awkward as he sorta slags off Death in Paradise that Danny's in then straight after, he goes against all the others pretty much by saying he prefers the first Kryten etc..

Worth a watch though if you can put up with the quality. Doesn't seem as bad as I remembered it now but slightly awks at times.

Hopefully it's a prelude to the fact that we're getting some more Dwarf soon - get it back in the spotlight and gain some attention from having it back on the beeb again and then hit us with some new content.

After the joint statement from Rob and Doug earlier in the year about them both now being able to make separate RD content I get the feeling that the most likely outcome is Doug will try and eke at least one more series/special out of the cast whilst Rob does something on the side like radio content or maybe a book.

Good work on the heads up that all episodes are on iplayer (surprised they've added the ones from Dave). This will sound slightly insulting, but this is a show I can fall asleep to, just listening to it through headphones but not watching. Impractical Jokers has started airing on Channel 4 and I've been listening to that in bed, but struggling to fall asleep. The adverts dont help. This is a much better option!

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

I think UKTV/Dave are owned by the BBC.
