It only hit that many in the last 30-40 minutes (A lot of fancy dress groups arrived at once). The majority of the night it was only 15-20.

Yeah it'll only appeal to the nerdy ones of us ;) haha...

DON'T GET the Title update just yet. Apparently lots of RB3 discs are now "unreadable" :fp:

RB 3 Title Update Coming 11/8 - Black Hole Sun & Dani California and Hide Song Option
hmxhenry wrote:Hey gang,

With a solid year of Rock Band 3 under our belts, we’ve got another small title update coming out on Tuesday November 8th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. We’ve pulled together notes for previous updates and it has always been well received by those of you in the community, so we’re doing the same for the one coming out tomorrow.

While there are several legal and security tweaks going in (which we won’t be able to address specifically, but honestly shouldn’t alter your RB3 experience in any way), there are also a few changes to gameplay that address some requests and comments we’ve received from the community since the last update.

• Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dani California” will now be available in Rock Band 3. These were songs from the RB1 disc that were not previously available via export, but thanks to some music licensing magic you’ll be able to play these fan favorite tracks in RB3. These songs should be visible to anyone that previously imported RB1, but if you have additional questions related to export you can consult support articles here.

• We’ve corrected an issue where playing combinations of “Surfing with the Alien,” “Satch Boogie,” “The Hockey Theme” and “Caprici di Diablo” in a set list resulted in a crash.

• We’ve added an additional filter option for songs in your library. In addition to sorting by lighter rating, this new option will allow users to hide 1 Lighter rated songs that you don’t want to see in your set list, which should allow for more effective organization of the growing library of RB content.

This title update should not interfere with the regular DLC release and you’ll be prompted to accept the update when firing up Rock Band 3 on 11/8.

Thanks to everyone for supporting Rock Band 3 over the last year. It means a lot to have such a dedicated community and we’re happy to be able to respond to your feedback and suggestions by bringing back some much loved songs and improving elements of game play for a title you clearly love. Feel free to comment on the contents of the update in the main RB forum, we’ll be reading!

*sticks head round door*
Hola, 'Big guy called Ash' here (Thanks for that, Sefi )

Firstly just want to thank BID0 and TigaSefi for their support of RCL, particularly TigaSefi for his shameless pimping of the event here and on other forums. Launching an event like this isn't the easiest thing in the world and word of mouth definitely works in our favour.

We're working to refine and improve the show each month. As an example for November we're adding an additional two Microphones for harmonies (total: 2 wireless, 1 wired by the keyboard), we've factored in a new Mixer for behind the scenes (the existing one is too large and heavy to be practical), as well as new DLC purchased over the next few weeks. This will include at the very least 'Ring of Fire' from this weeks Country Pack, as well as some songs we had requested from the back catalog. We'd like to get a new drum kit with the pro cymbal pack, but this will entirely depend on availability of the kit (or lack of availability as the case appears to be), and personal funds. We appreciate the offers of bringing in equipment, but here's the rub: we barely want to be liable for our own equipment, let alone anyone elses, the B:RB kit we have has taken a fair pasting the past two months and I'm suitably impressed with how well it has held up all things considered. Even that requires some physical repair work (broken stand connector) before this months.

I wouldn't want to expose anyone elses kit to that sort of punishment.

Also we're working our way through the process of registering ourselves as an actual business. We have two paying bookings waiting in the wings and these will help us pay for the Monthly public events greatly. As it is even with those kind enough to throw some change in the tip jar we still end up out of pocket every month. It'd be nice to potentially break even.

Herein lies some information I don't mind sharing with Yoshimi; Be very careful with anything that looks like you're charging people to play Rock Band. As has been discussed in great detail on the official RB forums, you can charge them for your time and expertise but if you start charging people to actually play the game you could invite a visit from some ugly men in suits. With careful wording and T&C I don't see any reason your plan shouldn't work and I wish you well with it. We're being very careful with regards to this ourselves as we want to become a legit business, not just for Rock Band nights, but for other potential gaming themed events. No DDR, mind.

As for numbers, I'm happy to share that the peak for night 1 was 37, which we sustained for a good length of time and was supplemented by people moving between us and the main bar upstairs. The peak for night 2 was 45, and as was pointed out this was late in the evening. It was a little disheartening to be that quiet for that long but thankfully it wasn't just us. The pub upstairs was pretty damned quiet too. It was nice for things to pick up at the end and we greatly appreciate BID0 & Co. giving up their last slot to the latecomer.

The capacity for the 'basement' is 60, and most Saturdays with nowt going on it rarely gets above 10 people down there... if that. We've gone down their on an evening and pretty much had the place to ourselves more times than I care to mention so the Landlord is quite happy that we're bringing some people in who are not only having a good time but also eating & drinking.

If anyone has any questions or similar I will be lurking about and am happy to answer them.

(P.S. As a final request, if you are thinking of coming along, go to our Facebook Event page and say so. It always helps with the pub and our own self esteem when we can get a rough idea of numbers ahead of time...)

Nice post Ash. Is the 11.30pm cut off time imposed due to legal stuff or just the pub getting shot of you and the gear by 12?

My singing would blow all of your minds. :shifty:

All of the above plus our desire to get home! Our last train is at 1am from Victoria, and even that doesn't go home per se, but gets us within a £15 taxi ride of home. The basement area officially closes at midnight (the pub at 1am), so wrapping things up by 11:30 means we have 30mins to get out of dodge and 45mins to comfortably get to Victoria. If we had a hotel to stay at nearby we might be able run until midnight, but that'd put nightly running costs into over £200... So for now 11:30 it is. :D

Due to the optional keyboard the game runs in all instruments mode, so no difficulty for vocals. From a performance point of view we have all levels of skill, including someone who does a very special version of Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld.

I think my favourite to sing may now be 'Piano Man', which I may or may not murder... Either way I enjoy myself a lot ;)

I think that that only happens when you try to play Dani California on the Xbox 360... at least from what I've read.

Yes they should be there. After a Title Update Rock Band always rebuilds the library of your songs, so once that has finished both of the old RB1 exports should be in the list. They're both already on your HDD but had previously been blocked.

Thanks for the advice Ash. The venue we are thinking of is pretty big, and hosts decent sized gigs. It would be a weeknight, and I'm my biggest worry would be that not enough people would be interested.
