Am I the only one who instantly didn't love this? It's over complex and the analog sticks are not made to be pressed fast enough for some of these notes, it feels very uncomfortable. It would be much better to use the bumpers to hit notes and the triggers to jump lanes. The lane jumnping, I don't get it, it always throws me out of time and I don't even know why or when I should change.

The great thing about Rock Band was, anyone could pick it up and it was fairly easy to understand what you had to do without any help. On this, I feel lost and I'm sure it won't have that same amazing party vibe the original had.

So please, I want to enjoy this, can someone explain the awkward lanes system. Oh and the powerups.

I feel old and stupid. :fp:

Press start. Go to Controls. Switch button layout to 'Shoulders'.

Et voila.

Thats the exact opposite of what I think this is.

The game would probably make more sense if you'd ever played Frequency or Amplitude I guess.

Maybe not over complex but it's in no way simple. I didn't play either of those Harmonix games so this lanes concept is new to me.

I'll give another try with the new button layout (thanks!) but I am still lost with the whole lanes thing.

Playing the demo btw.

Alpha check out the Giant Bomb video posted by bear on the top of page 583

It explains some of the gameplay mechanics that are in place, including tips on lane switching.

With the lanes, u need to hit the level cap before next checkpoint. So the underneath of each lane has to be fully lit up. Try doing it on clocks!! :slol:

Goto the rock band world section on FB, click song wars and there's a create score wars option.

For some reason I cannot get this to work on Safari as the page doesn't load, but it's fine on Chrome

Can't get over how uncomfortable the controls are. Played that Queen song, the Piano intro on shoulders just does not feel right to play, kept with it and then uncomfortable again so switched back to default, doing the drums on analog was even worse.

Sorry, that's me out. Would play much better on a kit, the pad was not intended for this, I can see it hurting my hands more than repeat button mashing on Bayonetta did.

With the default layout try using the d-pad and A with the shoulder buttons for switching.

Tried with the dpad and A button, still better but I have no idea what I'm doing. Beat Chris 1942's score though, so must be doing something right 8-)

The basic one, but it doesn't really explain when you should switch lanes and how I'm missing combos when I change lanes. Also, the multiplier at the bottom of the lane is mostly always X2 which is confusing because the lane multipliers on the left of the screen are higher.

It's messy.

You can switch lanes whenever you want. You don't have to do it at a particular time.

When switching lanes you should try to do it so you don't miss notes.

I had to look at a video to find out what you meant about the multiplier at the bottom of the screen. Never noticed it when I was playing but I think it's just to do with your current streak for the instrument you're playing.

The 2x mulitplier icon Alpha is talking about is a power up you can trigger by pressing the X button when you have enough energy. It then doubles all the lane scores while you have energy to keep it going.
