If we could get five star scores for all instruments there's a mission for that - maybe just do hard mode drums if that would help you out Frank?

I've mentioned this before btw BID0 - there's a community of guys who map the best overdrive deployment for maximum score on vocals tracks, they have a massive list of all the paths on rockband.scorehero.com somewhere. I used to be involved in it but the guys there are so much better and so much quicker than me at finding them. If you're good enough to get 100% in a vocals track then check it out - the path for that worshipper song is 4/, which obviously means get a full bar and deploy on the next opportunity.

Yeh I should probably start looking in to these. I've known they were available for a long time but now after 10 years playing these plastic instruments I'm not good enough to probably start using them  does that website do pathing for all instruments or is it specifically vocals?

I actually had problems with that Disturbed track, there didn't seem to be many places you could actually deploy overdrive for double points, a number of times I had a fully charged bar and kept getting more overdirve which was a waste. I also ended the song with 3/4 full and nothing to use it on. I put it down to the earlier songs not being designed with solo play in mind, that 3/4 at the end would have been useful had I been playing with other people who could have benefited from it

There's something weird going on with my game right now. Either the controllers are bust (I've checked the batteries and Xbox says they have a reasonable amount of charge) or my calibration has gone off because I can't keep streaks going and it feels like I am strumming and hitting the colours at the right times but every now and then I lose it :(

I've noticed that my Jaguar guitar seems to need different sync settings to the drumkit :dread: So I auto-calibrate with the guitar, and then switch to the drums and I can't keep a combo at all.

Down With The Sickness has a strange OD path - the OD lasts for ages so you need to use it much earlier than you normally would. The path ends up being something like 3/ 2/ 3/ so you're using it just before you jump into a chorus and catching more overdrive phrases as you go; it's how the song is very easy to get a golden five star on but there's also room for at least 100k in extra points when you get there as well. You end with overdrive still in use as well, annoyingly.

I believe there's a sub-folder for each instrument but I don't really play the other ones anymore so I couldn't vouch for how good they are.

If you thought this week was tough... wait until next week (if the DLC is a spotlight)

It's $2.99 instead of the regular $1.99 (but it's 17 minutes long, which makes it the longest song in Rock Band I think... if you ignore 2112 which was made up of 3 DLC tracks)

Surprise, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" is coming to Rock Band 4 this week. Yes, it’s the full version.

One of the most iconic songs of the 1960s, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly is an experience. It’s frequently considered one of the biggest influences on the development of the heavy metal genre and was the band’s highest-charting song. The single version sits at a little under 3 minutes, but for Rock Band, we decided to offer the full version that runs over 17 minutes, with more than a few solos and jams included in that run. The average length of a Rock Band track is about 4 and a half minutes, so this song is nearly four times the length of the average DLC song, becoming the second-longest song on the platform. "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" will release on Thursday for $2.99.

Bass jamming isn’t marked as a solo, but the instrument has plenty of time in the spotlight. Guitar has FOUR solos in it, mixing guitar solos and some organ play throughout the song. Drums are where the song truly shines though, as the chart has no empty space for the entire 17 minutes. The drum solo is 75 measures long, and as drums are the only instrument to have no break during the song, it’s the definition of focus and endurance. It will take quite a bit of skill to get the full score bonus from the drum solo. Good luck all around.

"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" can be purchased individually for $2.99.

Thanks Buff. Everyone has outdid themselves this week, I think this is the most XP we have ever earned in a single week before! It's ultimately a game though, so when you stop having fun it's time to do something else

I was worried that would happen. Just watched the preview video :dread: is there even a guitar part in that song?

I don't mind it so much when they pick one instrument and stick to that throughout the chart. Nothing worse than changing from guitar one minutes to a cowbell or piano and then a violin the next, makes it really difficult to keep up with what you're meant to be doing. I have a similar problem when they go from lead guitar to rhythm etc.

That's kind of good for you ;) vocalists tend to get big breaks on those while also still scoring XP (apparently this weeks DLC has a 320 measured break, and that's longer if you can't be bothered to do the tambourine solos.

I feel sorry for drummers :dread:

Here are the spotlight songs...

I have them all 8-)

The theme might work to our favour. We generally don't spend much time perfecting our spotlight scores and it's usually 1 or 2 attempts and done, so hopefully the longer songs put other teams off from multiple replays.

It's not good for me - I hate the longer songs because I'm a bit of a perfectionist and will restart as soon as I miss a note(or a tambourine hit). This will take some time.

Fortunately none of the songs *should* pose me too much of a problem this week. Halls of Valhalla is a bit of a pain because of Rob Halford's voice but it's still very do-able.

For every Green Grass and High Tides, there is a Won't be Fooled Again. For every Short and Sweet, there is a Free Bird. I'll start tonight.

(I like Short and Sweet, really)

I'm not sure if Short and Sweet is available yet. The Spinal Tap stuff has been delisted and Microsoft/Sony haven't made them available yet to people who purchased them before they were pulled.

Although having said that, I am now thinking Short and Sweet was on one of the disc setlists and wasn't DLC? In that case we have it to play.

Now I really want Spinal Tap - Big Bottom available to redownload :( love the bass on that

Green Grass and High Tides is a decent enough song. Short and Sweet, though :dread:

I didn't even realise Clint Eastwood was on Rock Band. Is it actually any good to play?

It came out during the RB2 days I think. It's part of a 3 pack of Gorillaz tracks. Is it any good? I can't really remember, I think that pack is good on drums and vocals (probably better now that they have harmonies in RB4).

The teacher has become the student! Thanks buff

This weeks DLC is £2.39 (versus the regular £1.59).

£2.39 is £1.91 if you know where to get your Microsoft prepaid credit from :datass:
