This Weeks Challenge: Everything Counts!

twitter.com/RockBand/status/834569218934898691

So every song gives out Rivals XP this week, and the most played genre this week will be the theme for next weeks challenge. The spotlight songs seem to be rock/hard rock themed to match...

HARD ROCK SINGLES!
We’re bringing a pair of hard-rocking tracks to the Rock Band Music Store for the final week of February. A short month doesn’t mean there has to be a shortage on great music to add to your song collection.

The first track is a Rock Band Rewind choice, Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades ‘08”. Coming from the Rock Band 2 disc, this track is the defining Motörhead anthem, charting strongly in the UK upon release. Specifically re-recorded for Rock Band, the song has lost none of its intensity. Hailed as one of the greatest guitar tracks ever, it brings multiple solos and a fast riff. The drums are fast, full of bass pedal hits and difficult fills. Chords are strongly featured in the bass chart, a rarity for the instrument. Lastly, Lemmy gives it his all on vocals, even putting a unique spin on some of the lines, making it a full-band challenge.

Following that, we’ve got Ram Jam’s “Black Betty”, a new addition to the Rock Band catalog. Quickly reaching #18 on the Hot 100, it proved an immediate hit for the band. The drums, while being plenty challenging to begin with, feature a pair of tough solos. Multiple solos also appear in the guitar chart, and during the bridge guitar solo, the bass gets so difficult as to place it as one of the most challenging bass tracks in Rock Band 4. The song has lots to do on everything and will leave you proud when you finally nail a performance.

Each track can be purchased individually for $1.99.
Motörhead – “Ace of Spades '08” (From the expired Rock Band 2 tracklist)
Ram Jam – “Black Betty”

Black Betty doesn't use proper stems (miss a note and it doesn't mute etc) which makes sense as to why it's taken so long to come to Rock Band.

AC/DC is out for PS4 Europe now. They've also sorted some of the missing recent DLC that they've never put out yet. Apparently Sony accidentally put AC/DC up for digital sale, the entire pack costing £1.19  I think it's fixed now.

And there's been more DLC leaks

Apparently the following have shown up as "available now" on the in game activity feed (but they're not available yet!)

The Primitives - Crash
The Kooks - Naive

Both of which are from the Lego disc setlist, so they will likely be next months rewind songs to purchase separately for anyone who missed out on exporting Lego.

Lego export is scheduled next to be fixed in Sony Europe land, dated for March.

Lego Rock Band: March 2017
Green Day: Rock Band: April 2017
Rock Band Blitz: April 2017
Rock Band 2 – 20 Free Songs: May 2017
Rock Band™ Track Pack Vol. 2: May 2017

Finally picked up Rivals. It's now £49.99 at GAME but it's feels like it's getting so rare that I had to just take the hit and go for it.

Edit - funnily enough it came up when I searched grcade :fp: anyway request sent. Feel free to add me etc as well. I mainly do expert guitar but I'm a bit rusty cos I haven't played regularly for ages.

Feel free to use that space if you ever are playing with a friend anyone. We can invite and kick those people out as and when for extra points

Hi all, I'm new, no need to bully me, I already have no self esteem and I have no dinner money as my parents are peasants I get free school dinners....there's nothing hear for you.

Now, Rock Band, I've had quite an absence from this game mainly due to me playing the first three to utter death and switching to PS4 at the end of last gen. Much as I love the game replacing what probably adds up to nearly half a grand of games instruments and DLC didn't really seem appealing. But as fate would have it some idiot offered to sell me a 1TB Xbox One with 25 games for £150 and I wasn't saying no to that.

So my question(s) are the back catalogue of 1,2,3, lego available for download (I assume all paid DLC is), what exactly is this rivals malarkey, sounds like a rather interesting team version of FIFA's online seasons. And I am allowed to come and take this 10th spot your pimping out to friends? :D

We only bully Frank because he likes Taylor Swift, so as long as your music taste isn't that shocking then you'll be safe

Welcome back!

Okay so because this involves music licencing this is where things get complicated. I will stick to just what is happening on Xbox to keep things simple...

Manwell Pablo wrote:So my question(s) are the back catalogue of 1,2,3, lego available for download (I assume all paid DLC is),

All songs you have previously bought are ready to download (except songs where the licence has expired and can't be sold any longer - music licencing typically lasts for 5 years and then they need to be renewed. Even these songs will come back eventually, in fact a handful have been fixed but they are taking longer because neither Sony or Microsoft had the infrastructure in place to provide downloads that couldn't be sold originally.

To get the downloads you are owed, go to the Xbox dashboard, find the RB4 tile, press the start button once (the button with the 3 horizontal lines on), select manage game, go down to "ready to install" and you'll probably have to wait a minute for it to populate. There you can download each song - packs and disc exports aren't bundled together anymore so you can cherry pick songs and avoid the ones you don't like if you so wish)

RB1, RB2, and Lego Rock Band exports have expired. If you have bought them previously which it sounds like you have then you can download them via the above method. If you didn't then you're SoL unfortunately but this year is Rock Bands 10th anniversary and some selective tracks are coming out as regular DLC for purchase each month for those that missed them. Keep an eye out!

Green Day Rock Band is also expired but has always been available as regular DLC anyway.

AC/DC Rock Band counts as a track pack and not an export. Track packs never expire to my knowledge as there is no furth purchase necessary. Just find a brand new disc with an unused download code.

Manwell Pablo wrote:what exactly is this rivals malarkey, sounds like a rather interesting team version of FIFA's online seasons. And I am allowed to come and take this 10th spot your pimping out to friends? :D

Rivals is the first "expansion" for RB4. It came out in October on the first anniversary of RB4 and is themed around Rivalry. It also contains a small offline campaign you can play solo or with friends on the same console, 13 extra songs so far, a handful of clothing options, a few new venues as well as traditional online multiplayer. You will also have access to any future update this year running up to this October.

Basic bug fixes and menu improvements etc are available to everyone, even those who haven't bought the Rivals expansion.

Think of it as a cheaper, stripped down version of RB5, with less hassle of losing songs etc.

So it's not a requirement to buy it, you'll always be supported on the basic version of RB4 and you'll be able to play all of that DLC as well as the upcoming stuff in the future.

If you're buying it from a store, any branded Rivals copy of RB4 (including instrument bundles) comes with the Rivals download code. I think it's about £20 to download on it's own from the Xbox store but please check as that's just a figure I pulled out of my ass

Need any more help just hit us up here!

Oh and the spot is always available to a GRcade forum poster so yes it's yours! And we will always work a way to get others in too. We could probably split in to two groups if it came to it.

My Own Worst Enemy is from Rock Band 2.

Lots of news might = finding out what is planned for the rest of the year regarding content updates.

Mini DLC Sale on Xbox

Apparently the following are on sale:

Rock Band 4 – "All Star” – Smash Mouth USD 1.39
Rock Band 4 – "Call Me” – Blondie USD 1.39
Rock Band 4 – "Footloose” – Kenny Loggins USD 1.39
Rock Band 4 – "New Divide” – Linkin Park USD 1.39
Rock Band 4 – "Oh, Pretty Woman” – Roy Orbison USD 1.39
Rock Band 4 – "Pretty In Pink” – The Psychedelic Furs USD 1.39
Rock Band 4 – "The Perfect Drug” – Nine Inch Nails USD 1.39

I've checked the first two and their listed as £1.11 on the UK marketplace so the same should be true for the others.

Wow thanks, most informative! I have previously downloaded the full back catalog so if I'm reading that right I should be ok....hoping so sound track on II is something else even if panic attack has come close to dislocating several fingers.

Well, I told myself no more games as the 25 mentioned above plus a few PS titles......however rock band has to be an exception. I am off to Amazon!

11 FREE TRACKS FROM LOCAL BANDS HEADED TO ROCK BAND RIVALS
Hey gang!

Coming with an update in March, Rock Band Rivals is getting 11 FREE new tracks! Harmonix has teamed up with The Record Co. – a non-profit music incubator with a mission to build a sustainable, nationally-recognized music scene in Boston – to bring new songs from some up-and-coming Boston bands to all Rivals owners! This new collection brings the total library of songs available to Rock Band Rivals owners to 89, including 65 songs on the disc and 24 as part of the Rivals upgrade. You’ll have plenty to choose from when playing with your friends online, and even more to work with during each Weekly Challenge.

Here’s a list of tracks from The Record Co. that are coming to Rivals owners for free. Get the details about each song below with commentary from our resident head honcho of the Audio QA team, Nick Gregoire!

  • Animal Flag - “Sink”
  • Bent Knee – “These Hands”
  • Black Beach - “No Place For Me”
  • Creaturos - “History Repeats”
  • Dutch ReBelle - “RudeBoys”
  • Julie Rhodes - “Hurry Up (& Wait For You)”
  • Littlefoot - “Casablanca”
  • Michael Christmas - “Cross That Line”
  • Ruby Rose Fox - “Skydiver”
  • STL GLD - “Good”
  • Tigerman WOAH - “Alone Time”

http://www.harmonixmusic.com/blog/11-fr ... nd-rivals/

That brings the total songs in the Rival's expansion to 24. Hopefully these are as good as the others we've had, I haven't played them all but there have been a few really good ones from the ones I have played.

Rock Band VR
Ain't it Fun / Paramore
Bad Reputation / Joan Jett
Beast and the Harlot / Avenged Sevenfold
Black Seas / Artic Horror
Champagne Supernova / Oasis
Cirice / Ghost
Counting Stars / OneRepublic

Everlong / Foo Fighters
Gold on the Ceiling / The Black Keys
Hangar 18 / Megadeth
Lights Out / ????? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lights_Out#Songs
Livin' on a Prayer / Bon Jovi

Walk This Way / Aerosmith
When You Were Young / The Killers
CONFIRMED-ISH? (mentioned in articles but those can be potentially dodgy)

Haven't seen the periscope video that these were announced in myself but I have bolded the ones RB4 doesn't have yet and would likely get at some point after Rock Band VR for Rift has been released.

Couple of great tunes in there, that Ghost song will be an instant buy in particular. frankly uninterested in more free songs though - I've got 1100 of the buggers, I don't need more to scroll through!
