Some Missions will refresh weekly with Rivals Challenges (Like having your Crew fill every instrument on every Spotlight Song with a 5-star score)

strawberry float right off with that.

Are these badges going to be the new version of the Career menu in RB3 that gave you various challenges based on what was actually in your music library? It's a nice addition but it's not as exciting as they try and make it sound.

I can't remember if it was RB3 or not. I think it was RB2 wasn't it? Like when you had X amount of songs by a certain artist then a challenge for them would appear in the list. I quite enjoyed that feature, it constantly added new things to do without the need for the game to be updated, and it could easily be ignored for those who didn't like it.

EDIT: Rock Band 2 review...

Image
If you’re looking for a more linear progression through songs, there are the Tour Challenges, a completely separate set of gigs designed around different play styles. Beginning at the Local Upstart tier, you work your way through different types of challenges specific to vocals, drums, bass, guitar, or full band play. As you go up the tiers, you’ll unlock more difficult set lists, as well as other types of challenges.

Downloadable content will also create new challenges, like the David Bowie challenge or the "Doolittle Album Challenge," where you’ll play through the entirety of the classic album by the Pixies. Fortunately, you can quit mid-set -- the game will save your progress -- and resume at a later point.

Rock Band 2’s biggest addition is the game’s Battle of the Bands mode. Rather than the head-to-head band competitions you might expect, Harmonix will be offering up new challenges daily. Some challenges might be centered on scores, note streaks, or total stars gained across a set list or single song. Many even have special requirements, like playing the song on Expert difficulty, having a drummer in your band, or receiving no Overdrive throughout a song. Challenges run from anywhere for a few hours to a week (or longer), and results are posted to a persistent leaderboard.

I don't even remember battle of the bands mode whatttt

Not really happy about this but i have heard BOTH songs are worth getting so that's a full house from me. Who else?

If it is a mother week then Pink Floyd "Mother" would be a good shout but i guess the instruments aren't really that much fun to play!

I'm getting MGMT but that other song is a pass from me, sounds Country like. The preview video for both tracks is on the previous page.

MGMT's a decent enough song but I'm really losing interest in this Rivals stuff now. It's constantly DLC bullshit despite everyone always complaining every time they post something that there's too much of a DLC focus with the Spotlight songs and that's unfair and stupid.

It's getting to the point now where I'm literally just not going to buy any DLC that's also a Spotlight song. I've had enough of it. Total, oblivious imbeciles.

I get your point Frank. I did wonder how many times they could get away using on discs songs. Also for some of us who exported RB1-3 and other discs songs, we would at a unfair advantage if these songs were chosen as well. Rock and hard place.

It'd be slightly less frustrating if they went for legacy tracks from the earlier games as opposed to brand new DLC just because it's an obvious ploy to try and get more people to buy the sub-par DLC they're so keen to push out recently.

Most of the DLC tracks they've chosen are legacy that have a big install base already (like Boston's More Than A Feeling)

Those are a massive pain to buy and download though compared to this weeks DLC... When you select a spotlight song that you don't own it just gives you a warning and sends you to the main store page (not to the actual track you need to buy :fp: ). At least with this weeks DLC you can go to new releases and it's right there at the top of the list.

And if you're in a full group likes us and are playing in the higher leagues then there's a good chance the group has all the spotlights between them.

It's pretty clever how they don't automatically take you to the page to buy that particular song, too :slol: Surely that wouldn't have been that difficult to program?

That's what I expected it to do when I did it the first time. It was like a rock band 2 era spotlight song I think and I couldn't be bothered to type in the bands name via a guitar controller and skipped buying it entirely

Since they've added DLC regularly as spotlight songs you can get away with putting scores in for just 2 of the 3 and still stay in the high end of the spotlight scores table.

If they're still for sale? Yes. All of the songs still for sale were fixed before January on Xbox

If they're delisted and not in that above list then probably not. You can check easily enough by picking manage game when on the RB4 tile. Anything fixed will be under the ready to install section.

I don't think I have those so I can't check myself

SEASON 1 IS COMING. ARE YOU READY?
The next update to Rock Band 4 is right around the corner! We’ve revealed Seasons and Missions over the last couple weeks, and we’re putting the finishing touches on the patch to get it ready. We thought this would be the perfect time to share more about the end of Season 0 and the start of Season 1.

For starters, we mentioned that there would be exclusive rewards depending on where you end in Season 0. We’ll be putting a spit shine on these before you can slap ‘em on your characters, but without further ado, feast your eyes on these beauties:

Image

Shooting stars, rainbow dinos, diamond-eyed cats, and regal eagles! Plus, you’ll receive all rewards for tiers below yours as well, in case you feel like changing things up when the Bloodstone shirt gets old (spoilers: it never will). What more could you ask for? Oh, details about when these will get handed out? Read on, Macduff.

The final Challenge of Season 0 will end on Tuesday, June 13th. Season 1 will begin on that same week on Thursday, June 15th. There’s even enough time that if you make a new Crew in Bronze today, you could get to Bloodstone for the close of the Season. These shirts won’t be available again after Season 0 ends, so no time like the present to chase after that eagle!

Image

Keep in mind that the last Challenge or two will come after the update, which will close the exploits that a select few are using to cheat their way to the top. We’ve worked hard to ensure a level playing field in the final days of Season 0.

Regarding exploits, we opened the discussion when we announced Seasons around what to do with the leaderboards. We’re going to be moving forward with the #2 option there, where we leave most scores alone, and do a targeted wipe to affect the top exploited scores. Since then, we’ve developed a means to determine the maximum possible score on drums, so only exploited scores will be lowered, with all legitimate scores being kept intact. Guitar, bass, and vocal scores will have the targeted wipe we detailed before, where we’ll target exploit scores, but might hit some legitimate scores in the process. As we mentioned, all Full Combo and Gold Stars will be kept intact, even if your score is reduced, and the overwhelming majority of players will be unaffected by these adjustments.

Keep an eye out for more info about the upcoming update! It’s a big one, and there’s still more to share.

I want that dinosaur tshirt, so we need to be in at least the Gold league by June 6th to be promoted that week for June 13th :shifty:
