They're normally pretty good with that kind of thing, letting people look behind the curtain. If you get a reply you'll have to post it here!

PostRe: The Rock Band Thread II - now with 5% more free songs!!! [PS4/X1/Rift]

I've just updated the opening post with the 5 new free tracks from this week and I've also included the free songs historically which still appear to be listed for free. This brings the total to 114 songs.

Spoiler for youtube videos (full songs)

They don't sounds as bad as I originally thought from the preview.

Also don't forget to check songs you downloaded ages ago on older Rock Bands. Updates since December:
  • Over at Microsoft they have fixed broken DLC entitlements such as Fleetwood Mac and Spinal Tap. You can download these quickly by going to "manage game" on the Rock Band dashboard tile, check the "Ready to Install" and they'll all be waiting there for you to download.
  • Over in America Sony have fixed broken entitlements for Spinal Tap too. I have no idea how Sony works with downloading content that isn't for sale anymore so can't be of more help there.
  • Sony Europe are still lagging behind, but all of the disc exports are done now, including track packs over 2017. Additionally some broken Ozzy Osbourne tracks and Rush's 2112 (full 20 minute version) have been fixed over the holidays.

That's just reminded me - is anyone else having issues downloading songs at the moment? I went into the store yesterday and the 5 KROQ tracks were all showing as "Purchased", but when I tried to select any of them to tell them to actually download it just gave me an error about the store being unavailable at the moment.

Happened when I tried to get Torn, too. I found it in the store, but it wouldn't let me actually select it to buy it. Had to go through the xbox website in the end...

Didn't try last night but when I was downloading songs over Christmas that I had saved in my Rock Band Store Wishlist it was giving me an error like that after about 4-5 songs. I tried again a few days later and was able to download another handful and again a few days later, I couldn't be bothered to try the Xbox dashboard/website so I'm not sure if the problem was specific to Rock Band or it's Wishlist section.

I did try playing a 360 game last night and the Xbox 1 couldn't download the cloud saves for it so maybe it's an Xbox issue.

Those 5 KROQ songs should show up in your ready to install if you wasn't able to download those. You've already "purchased" those 5 as they are part of the Rivals expansion.

Just done with listening through them all. Not so bad if you're in to your indie/pop rock

  • HUNNY sounds a bit like Blossoms or Bastille if they were from the 80s and went New Romantic. Some parts sound like The Cure's Friday I'm In Love.
  • In the Valley Below is my second fav track of the 5, although the guitar chart :dread: the song reminds me of Blondfire if you picked up that DLC recently.
  • Nightmare Air remind me of New Young Pony Club.
  • No Small Children is my fav of the lot, a bit like The Killers in the early days mixed with New Young Pony Club. You're going to love that high hat ;)

They all sound like they have The Smiths/The Cure/New Romantic/New Wave as influences. But yeah, if you're in to all that hipster indie gooseberry fool then these are 5 good songs for you.

Would have bought 3 as DLC in total so not bad out of 5.

Blondefire was a banger when it comes to recent DLC tunes. Will give them a go later!

Listened to that In the Valley Below track a few more times now and I might import their 7" vinyl with it on  they offer a signed option too, so this free DLC track could well end up costing me $20 + shipping :slol:

I’m so close to getting that last achievement (all songs on expert guitar) in Rock Band 1. I did Molly Hatchet tonight finally  I just have Green Grass and High Tides left, which I made 90% of the way through so I’m determined to nail that this weekend!

Loaded up Beatles too and finished off the last two songs I needed to get 85% on guitar solos. This series is so satisfying for progression, I don’t think any other game has made me feel like it. 10 years ago I was completely hopeless on easy guitar and drums, and I couldn’t even get through vocals.

I've gone the other way - managed maximum points on RB and RB II, 950 on L:RB and about 600-odd each for RB3 and Beatles. Pulled it back a bit with RB4, and haven't played Green Day but would very much like to.

I've played Green Grass and High Tides so many times and I get never get through that ABCBABCBABCBA widdly solo bit. Rock band was always too harsh on hammer-ons and it was too quick to strum through. :-(

I think I can scrape through if I can do well enough an deploy my overdrive maybe 10 seconds later than I currently need to  those HOPOs kill me though. I didn't know about them or master them until RB3. While I can do them now, in the original Rock Band a regular note and a HOPO look virtually identical so it's not easy to do still.

I did a few Beatles songs gold stars at the weekend, I have 3 achievements for the 4 x songs on Gold Stars, the Gold cut offs on Beatles are insane  I 100% one song and still was about halfway away from getting Gold :dread:

The Beatles game had some tough-as-fuck achievements in it, to be sure.

I topped a couple of leaderboards for RB4 songs at the end of last year and the top ranked vocalist added me as a friend specifically to taunt me after thrashing my humble scores into oblivion. That's a level of gamesmanship I haven't seen before.

The taunting system needs some work  I always feel bad sending them as they send them to all of your friends you beat (even if they play on easy)

Looks like the next theme is Classic Rock

My taunts only ever go to you, MHTL or a guy who added me for the competition called Paul Smart - he’s in that slightly-below-elite-vocals tier that I’m in so we have some good back and forth. As soon as I get the 50 taunts mission done I’ll stop sending them - it’s literally the only reason I am doing atm.

shudder

Snake notes are the killer on that. So many attempts at the song before I finally got it.

Still can’t believe that they thought country music was a good idea for a themed week. Ridiculous.

Yeh not good  especially with the early stages of arthritis. Still haven't pass that song yet :x

And a metal week the week before that, a double whammy :| and we get classic rock this week when I don't have time to play the 100+ songs in my library that count :fp:
