Will need to pick that up. DLC this week is a fairly guff pair of rewinds, that I’ve already got. But fair play, hopefully we get some more Lego ones soon.

Well that's a disappointing selection for this week. No new songs at all? Hope that doesn't become the theme going forward (although, it'd mean I'd actually have all the spotlight songs for a change :shifty: ).

Season 6 is Nearly Here!
Hey everyone!

Happy spring! We thought we’d take the opportunity to share some details on near and long-term plans for Rock Band 4 and Rivals. First off, a huge thank you to all our players. Because of you, Rock Band 4 is just as alive and vibrant as it was at launch over two years ago. Since launch, we’ve released over 400 songs, more than 10 updates, and delivered features that run the gamut from Brutal Mode to Online Matchmaking. It’s been a labor of love for us but the real joy is watching all of you enjoy our work!

One of the modes that we spend the most time on is Rivals Mode, our asynchronous competitive mode. We just wrapped up Season 5, which yielded the rewards needed to complete the full motorcycle outfit. As we gear up for Season 6, we want to push some changes out to address some of the feedback that we’ve gotten over the last year. Last week, we discussed these details on our livestream. For those who missed it or just wanted it to reference later, we’ve detailed it all below. First, the content news:

Every Rivals Season has a theme – Season 6 will explore the history of Rock Band DLC, with each Challenge focusing on a different time period of releases. This gives us an excellent opportunity to bring some of the highlights of the Rock Band Network catalog to RB4 as DLC. As you may remember, Rock Band Network was a UGC program that we built to allow bands to upload their songs directly to the Rock Band universe. Thousands of songs were submitted and released via the RBN pipeline; a mix of indie, mid-major, and major label bands. Our licensing team has been going back through the catalog to work through a very complicated process to try to bring RBN content to Rock Band 4. I’ll spare you the gory details, though there are some specific points that I think are important (and interesting) to all of you:

It is technically impossible for us to support entitlements for RBN content, but we’ve secured the rights to release a portion of RBN songs as regular paid DLC. This is a big win for those of you interested in the RBN catalog – on our last survey the overwhelming majority (80+%) of people indicated that they’d like to have the songs available for purchase than not have them at all. We’re really excited that we were able to make that happen and some awesome stuff is about to be available as a result.
We have to work through songs one by one, so we cannot just upload the whole library. We’ll be releasing songs periodically, just like we do with our regular DLC. This is a perfect time to request RBN songs you want to see make it over to RB4 via our song request page (which we look at all the time!).
Each song will get a QA pass to make sure that authoring, mixes, and all of the other secret bits of the song all work in the game. We’ll also be adding in support for Pro Drums. That said, we don’t want to change the authoring too much as many of you will be familiar with how these play (and the original authors did good work). These songs will be super fun to play and sound great.
While there’s a lot of great RBN content we’re excited to release, we also have an awesome line-up of non-RBN songs for release this year.

So that's exciting.

On the mechanics front, we’re making some changes via the server (no update to download…yet) to soften the biggest criticism of Rivals Mode – it can feel grindy. We’re making 2 major changes:

1. We are adjusting the per-song XP values to reward players who play well at higher difficulties. Put differently, players who 5 star a song on Expert will earn substantially more XP than 5 starring that same song on Medium. XP already works that way, but we’re making the difference more dramatic.
2. We are adjusting the promotional thresholds for some of the tiers to complement the XP changes we're making - we definitely want to make sure that the folks who aren't playing on Brutal or Expert have a chance for promotion.

The goal of these changes is to get more people promoted into the middle tiers while still ensuring that skill is an important and valuable metric as players put their Crews together. In addition to these changes, we’re also increasing the XP decay on repeated song plays – we don’t want players to feel like they need to play songs over and over again to harvest XP. It’s just not that fun. We’ve also applied the existing Spotlight score constraint to regular Crew XP – you can only contribute to one Crew during a challenge. If you leave a Crew, you’ll have to wait until the next challenge starts before you can earn Crew XP or submit Spotlight scores.

As with everything Rock Band, we would LOVE to get your feedback on these changes. We pay very close attention to what you all have to say and, in fact, your activity and suggestions help define our goals. Everything we do, we do for you. Feedback this time around is doubly important as we are working on a suite of Rivals mode changes for a game update later this summer. So, join the conversation and let us know what you think!

Reptilia and some new song that's free to Rivals this week. Hoping a few more L:RB throwbacks over the next few weeks.

The challenge is songs released in the first year of a rock Band so presumably itll be all the RB1 DLC from between November 2007-November 2008, and any song released as DLC or other content that came out during that period as well.

Sweet, I was expecting that kind of theme for last week.

I guess there's going to be a few hundred to play from this week, depending on if you exported the 1st game's tracklist. Some of those songs I probably haven't touched since the RB2 days.

H-BlockX - "Countdown To Insanity" from the EU bonus tracks should count too, that's being delisted tomorrow or sooner, so it's anybody's last chance to buy it before it's removed from sale.

I picked it up last week, it’s as good as I remembered. This could mean the other songs are delisted soon and I already lost Hysteria and Hier Kommt Alex that way, shittily enough, so May have to grab them.

How big is everyone’s personal library now by the way? Mine sits at 838 songs, but I’m missing around 50 through being caught with delists and export time limits.

Hysteria is still up for purchase, as is the Blur and Oasis tracks that were in the EU bonus for Rock Band 1

I think I am at 1200 now with that free song this week! I have all the exports those which probably total at least half of my song library.

Something I've been thinking about recently - there are only two of the seven track packs released in Europe, and I've often thought I'd like to export a few of the songs that are delisted from the ones that aren't available(specifically Hair of the Dog by Nazareth). You can get all the packs for buttons on Amazon, but is there any way to then import them onto an EU account?

erm I'm not sure I understand the question.

DLC isn't region locked on Xbox so if you have a code for DLC it will work I would have thought.

It wasn't the best worded question, sorry!

So basically, you know the track packs that were released in the RB1/2/3 era - they're now the only way to get a couple of delisted songs such as Snow(Hey Oh) and the Nazareth song I mentioned. Only two came out in Europe(Track Pack 2 and AC/DC Live):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_Band_track_packs

So my question was whether there was a way to get the others onto a region 2 account/XBox, given that they're region 1 only but if the code will work for any region then that answers my question. And even if it doesn't, I can get a pack fairly cheaply to test. :D

As an aside have this week’s DLC songs gone up yet? I’m anticipating RB2 rewinds that I’ve already got but it would be just amazing if they managed to get Journey, Metallica or AC/DC back for us.

Oh right sorry, I knew the first few track packs were PS2 and Wii only as they didn't have DLC functionality to get extra songs (Wii got DLC for RB2 onwards). I didn't realise that the ones on Xbox that did come out didn't all arrive in Europe too.

In that case then yes the codes will work as long as they're Xbox 360 and new, however the games themselves might not as they could be region locked. I'm pretty sure the original Rock Band was region locked because people here imported the PS3 version from America originally?

I was hoping for a small DLC pack like that for Rock Bands 10th Anniversary, songs like Paranoid etc that didn't get exported. Would have been so good :datass: the fact we only have 3 Black Sabbath tracks to play in Rock Band 4 and all 3 of them are covers is a travesty :fp:

Track pack vol. 1 was Wii and PS2 only, yeah - all of the songs that were on that one are still available so it's fine. All of the others were released on PS3 and 360, but only Track Pack vol. 2 and AC/DC Live! made it over to EU shores unfortunately, which is a shame because there's a lot of good stuff on the other packs. Particularly I'm interested in the Classic Rock and Metal packs. The two Country packs I'd buy for the volume of cheap songs, but I'm not really fussed about them.

I'm not overly bothered about having the actual physical copy of the pack itself, so don't mind if it's region locked at all as long as the import code works on the XBox. There's a sealed copy of the metal pack going for less than a tenner on eBay at the moment so I may as well take the plunge, and will report back on whether I can get the songs or not. :toot:

Good luck! Just be careful buying just email codes on eBay. I got done a few weeks ago for a £50 code and lost my money when they sided with the seller.

If you want to be doubly sure then it might be worth asking reddit, I'm sure someone there from outside of NA will have imported a track pack. I can't see why it wouldn't work though as you can easily change regions on Xbox and buy games/DLC from other regions. I know on PlayStation it's region locked, if you have a US/EU game then you need to have DLC from a matching region, it's why on Xbox we got all of our DLC first and everyone got it at the same time around the world.

Ouch, that sucks dude, a £50 loss is hard to take. Worst case scenario though, I've lost £8.50 so I may as well try it. The game is sold as sealed so the code should be usable at the very least - if I can't use it I'll just re-sell. :)

They've started being extremely late with the announcement of the week's DLC - I'm starting to worry that they're getting ready to wind it up again.

With that said, if they could wind it up by re-releasing as many de-listed/untransferable songs as possible that'd be great. We're still missing about 40 Lego Rock Band songs. :slol:

Thing is I'm absolutely sure I paid for the export and had them in an old Rock Band game, but can't bloody find any of it. Very upset.

I always thought DLC announcements were Tuesday afternoon about 3-4pm. At least since it changed, it used to be Friday originally with the DLC out on Mondays
