:lol: I've actually just been goggling at some of the elite runners on Strava today and...I mean holy strawberry float. There's one guy (triathlete) who, in addition to swimming and cycling, smashes out 65+ miles of running a week at an average pace of 5.34 a mile (and that's obviously including tempo and recovery runs). It's mad! His pace runs are 3 miles odd in the 4.30-4.40 bracket. If I managed to run a single mile a minute slower than that I'd be ecstatic! And probably get tendonitis in every single part of my legs. And then have a heart attack and die.

So yeah good luck with that Mini E. Do you have a time to aim for? I managed to get one down today at 1.47.33 which I'm pretty happy with, was totally flat but think it worked out at around 8.16/mile.

The thing that really hurt me, was when I found out that those competitive walkers can clock 7 minute miles. They have one foot on the floor at all times.

Anyway, I ran the Birmingham half. I got a time of 1:59. That's pretty bad for me but I've only been back running a couple of months.

Re: those competitive walkers. There was a guy doing the Great South Run today who's 5k PB is 19 minutes. That's disgusting. Walking. Ugh..

Great South went really well. Ran with a friend and we did the 10 miles in 1:26:04. Happy enough with that. I had a hamstrings scare earlier in the week playing squash and something tweaked in my right groin during the GSR so I feel like my body is telling me to have a bit of a rest at the moment... But yeah. Happy with 5:16kms over a 16.1km run. I ran a 10k PB of 50:56 the other week. Getting there slowly :)

I think I've got a bit of a break from competitive running for now... I've got Bath and Reading Half marathons in March and Brighton Marathon in April and Cotswolds 24 hour relay in July (?) but need to get something in the diary before then really or I'll lose motivation.

Did anyone else do the GSR? How's training chaps?

Now Im playing horde, ive cut my runs to just the one at parkrun per week. I was pushing 23min 5k, but since injury Im about 25min now.

I did 50 miles last week. Got my parkrun down to 20:33, hopefully I'll break 20 mintes this side of xmas.

After my 50 miles, I went to one of those indoor trampoline places with my girlfriend. We have a combined age of 55 and the oldest person in there besides us was, ooh, 15 tops. I managed to skin my arm and turn my ankle over within, I'd guess, 24 seconds of being there. So no running this week.

I only run once a week as well (also at parkrun). I find it hard to motivate myself to go out for a run on my own. Maybe i should join a running club

Bham half done. 16 mins off my personal best but six months after an MRI and starring from scratch so I'll take that.

Stafford, Stratford, Manchester and then the full Bham Marathon in 2017.

I've been walking around with a massive shiteating grin all day. Sub 20 was my aim for the year and I'd really been struggling to close the last few seconds out. To take that much out of it was beyond my wildest dreams.

Broke my record for a 4 mile the other day.

Did 4.03 miles in 32:05 with 7:58 average which is frankly incredible for me. Not sure how good that is compared to average as I have no basis for comparison but it felt like I had a rocket up my arse ( :datass: ) for the first 2 miles . Was dying for the entire last one which is up hill but I stuck with it.

My splits were:

Mile 1 - 7:11 :datass:
Mile 2 - 7:34 8-)
Mile 3 - 8:16 :|
Mile 4 - 8:41 :fp:

I had an almost identical run yesterday Ad! 4 miles in 32:07. Happy with that considering a strong coastal headwind. Well into my new 24 week running programme now. Life is completely planned out for the next 6 months or so :mrgreen:

Just did my first park run in 2C in the lake district, did it in 25:34. Pretty happy with that, shame there's none that are easy for me to get to normally.

Managed to do this with an average of 7:40 the other day. Not far off a sub 30 min time now.

Resolution is to run 1000k this year, which works out about 13 miles each and every week.

I started running again on Jan 30th and have forced myself to get out and run everyday since then (9 days in a row so far).

The problem I've had in the past is that I was focusing purely on my time and pushing 100% every time I went out in order to beat it. So if it was raining or I wasn't feeling fully fit then I lost motivation as I knew I wouldn't beat my time. Then I start missing days and before you know it I'm not running any more.

So the plan this time around is to just get out and do something (anything!) every single day. I still look at my times and want to keep improving but my main motivation is to not miss a day. Rest is important, so once I'm into a routine I will start having one or two rest days a week, but so far things are going well.

This time last week I was struggling after 1 mile. Now my pace is faster and I'm reaching 2 miles comfortably, and the second mile is all uphill.
I'm hoping to enter my first Parkrun on Saturday, but it'll be at a slow pace (maybe 30 minutes?).

A week later and I still have the running bug :)

I ended up running 12 days in a row before I took last Saturday as a rest day instead of doing Park Run. I haven't got any aches or pains but felt I was making slow progress and needed a recovery day to try and gain some strength. In the last couple of days I've pushed myself a bit harder and today I ran 5k for the first time without stopping. I was hoping to get under 30 minutes, and I did with 28:48! Considering the last mile is all uphill I am pretty happy with that as a base line to work on.
