Knee isn't quite back to where it should be and still aches a bit. Managing to run 40k on it per week at the moment though (4 x 10k with a Wednesday 50 min cycle time trial to break up the week) and ran it in 50:47 this morning. Should be back down under 50 minutes soon hopefully. So good to be running again.

Good stuff!

I've had an aching hip all this week, hoping it's nothing serious and goes away soon as I've got my 60k race next Saturday!

Hopefully the warmup will loosen it up! 50:22 today - heading back in the right direction after a long enforced hiatus :)

How long are your training runs out of interest, Sat?

I tend to run between 6-10 miles 2 or 3 times in the week, then a 5k parkrun on Saturday, then a long run on Sunday.
The long run was increasing each week, I've got up to 20 miles with my backpack fully loaded. Last weekend was supposed to be my last big effort with the aim of running 25miles but I was aching from a hilly parkrun and cut it short at just 8 miles to try and avoid injury.

I feel like I've done the minimum to (hopefully) get through this race, but I had a knee injury in Dec/Jan that put me back quite a bit. Should be much more confident going into the next one...

Just recently finished the Get Running app course, which I think is a sort of couch to 5k thing. Now what do I do now I don't have an app telling me?

That depends on where you want to get to! Running a similar distance but faster or running longer distances?

I don't know, I suppose 10k would be a good distance to get to and improve speeds. Also probably need some proper running shoes

I think there's a plan called 'Bridge to 10k' for people who have finished 5k and want to go further.

Proper running shoes make all the difference. Go to a running shop and try on lots of different pairs, you want whichever is most comfortable.
Once you know what shoes you like you can save some money by buying last year's model, usually they are half the price with no major differences year to year.

Definitely agreed re: the shoes. Can’t quite describe the difference it makes.

10k in 49:36 Just now. First time sub-50 for about a year thanks to injuries and only about 30 seconds off my PB. Did it after a 12 minute stair climb and before a cycle cool-down so have to assume I’ve still got some time in the tank which is great news. Only been back running for about 4 weeks so this is good news!
