Nice one. Pacing is good. Its a different challenge to get as close to the time as possible, and to talk and encourage the other runners to beat you. I did 27min pacing and came in at 27:01. It was also my 25th volunteer role (24 at pacing), so i get the purple t-shirt if they become available.

Starting to feel like I'm getting in to a nice groove with my running now, I've been giving it a go with varying degrees of commitment for the last 6 months or so but have tried to get much more disciplined about it in the last couple of weeks. Before I might have aimed to get out once a week but probably only managed once a fortnight or worse as I'd decide that the weather wasn't right or I was too tired. For the last three weeks I've done at least two 5Ks each week and have been feeling really good about it!

I think I've found a decent pace now where previously I was trying to push too hard too soon and ending up feeling sore for days I'm now feeling pretty good after a run and able to get back out sooner. It's a good feeling! I'm still fairly slow, about 27 mins for the 5K, but I figure it's best to get the consistency down and get myself in the habit of getting out regularly and then I can think about building on my pace!

One man's slow is another man's fast remember. I'd love that pace consistently.

Pushing distance now. Did 6K on the hilly bit today. Took 39 minutes and the last K was all uphill urgh.

True, wasn't trying to suggest that my time was slow overall - more that it didn't "feel" very quick to me at the time if you see what I mean? I've not really got much experience at "jogging" so to speak - I used to do lots of 200m and 400m running so any time I'm not effectively sprinting full speed still feels a bit odd to me!

Got a new PB for 5K yesterday - down from 27:22 to 26:08! Also I'm starting to feel like I've got a bit more in the tank at the end of a run which is nice, I'm considering starting to add in a longer run every now and then to see if I can get up to a 10K. :D

I shall be running the old Severn bridge over and back again from now on during my lunch breaks. Probably 2 times a week. Should be about 4.5 miles a time.

Just remember to push any people you pass into the path of oncoming busses, those are the running over a bridge rules! :fp:

What are peoples onions on this

A man has been arrested by police after footage emerged of a jogger appearing to push a woman into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge.

Ive never hit anyone when running on the road, I try to look out for people and on the occasions when i think i might hit someone i will stop. I think this guys mistake wasnt stopping to see if she was OK. I think GBH is harsh for what was an accident.

My opinion is he's a total bellend who deserves a punishment serious enough to reflect the danger he put that woman in.

she didn't move out of his way though, and while of course shoving her is extreme, i get strawberry floated off with people doing the same every time i go out.

Why should she move out of his way? When I'm out running I consider it my responsibly to move out of the way as I'm the higher risk variable in the situation.

Yeah the guy's a dick, can't really see any other interpretation. There's tonnes of space for both of them and even if there isn't you don't strawberry floating push someone over! Also if you watch he actually goes out of his way to shove her - they start out on different lines before he swerves across.

Also he knows how close they are to the edge of the road, he knows how hard he pushed her and in which direction - there's no way he can have expected anything other than the fact she was going to end up in the road, it's a strawberry floating disgrace. Additionally if you are not aware enough of your surroundings to know that there's a bus approaching then I'd be concerned for my own safety let alone that of others.

Arrested man denies being Putney Bridge bus-push jogger

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-40901704

It seems very harsh to publish a picture of the man's face like that when he is currently disputing it was even him!

I would say it probably is him, but he allegedly has "irrefutable proof" he was in the US at the time...

I've got a fairly mild cold, so I thought I'd take it easy at Parkrun today.

I ended up running a full 30 seconds faster than the last time :? wat.

Building up my endurance, can do 9 laps (3600m) jogging without breaking for walks. It's at a slow pace for the most part - but still some progress.

Up to a regular weekly fifteen miles, taking me between 130 and 140 mins.

Give me a long slow run over a short fast one anyway. Those buggers hurt.

My wife was the first female back in Edinburgh parkrun last week.

I am the precise opposite

I am struggling with feeling drained when I run. I did 2.5 miles at lunch and my time was ok - 16:33 - but I felt knackered. I only ate cereal at 8am and then nothing else before running at noon, so maybe it's that. Might have to start hitting the Jaffa cakes.

I eat porridge at 6.30, then have a couple of packs of those last breakfast biscuits an hour before I run. Seems to do the trick for 4 -6 miles but the energy drops off near the end.

Did anyone get any Olympians/Paralympians turn up at their parkrun today? None at mine :(

I did some parkrun tourism at Haigh parkrun and Rachelle Booth, GB taekwando Olympic bronze medalist was there. I turned up 4 minutes late, so ran past her because she was in the tail runners group. I did see her, but didnt know who she was until reading it on facebook.
