Just did my first half marathon distance wise tonight after work. Pretty much bang on 2 hours 9 minutes. Gonna sleep for a long time now but getting better every day! Love it.

I'v been building up my general fitness a bit recently, I did a 10 (.2) K run the other night in 54 mins minutes which I'm pleased with. According to strava the elevation gain was 374 ft as well. First time I've done one without stopping. I think the half marathon i did a few weeks back has made me realise that it is actually quite enjoyable running when you're heart and body get past that 'this is awful' feeling!

I did that in 2 hours 15 and walked a good mile or two. I think I'll try another when I get back to the UK and see if I can break the two hour mark.

Congrats on the time Johnny, it's hard work isnt it!

Well done. There's a definite shift in training from wanting to stop due to being breathless to wanting to stop due to muscle fatigue. I can definitely improve yet and I intend to this summer.

Yeah, for me it's all about muscles aching now, but I've been running slow and keeping heart rate down.

I ran a new longest distance of 16 miles last Saturday and felt surprisingly good the next day. I took a day rest anyway and then got another 14.5 mile run in. This time I stopped briefly for lunch halfway and sat next to some cyclist on a bench. Tried to make small talk but I couldn't understand what he was saying, and then noticed the beer cans and realised he was drunk at 11am. Awkward!

I'm at the point now where I need to start taking food/drink with me and figure out what works. The salmon sandwich and bottle of squash I had last time didn't feel great when I started running again but my mile times started improving again at the end with the same amount of effort, so it must have helped.

Was due to run my first half marathon today (Wilmslow) but it fell victim to the weather. :(

Damn, that's a shame. I did the Wilmslow sprint triathlon last year, was decent and if you were to go anywhere near where we cycled then it would have been nice. Our run was too short to see much, though.

I work in Wilmslow so I know it quite well, although the HM route is mostly in Mobberley which is just down the road. There's a provisional rescheduled date of 24th June so fingers crossed.

This would have been my first road race since September so I'm getting a bit itchy now. Just entered the Bolton 10k which is on 22nd April.

I didn't fancy my usual parkrun this morning, so at 8am I was googling to see if any new ones had popped up recently and I found two!

The one I didn't try (Hazelwood) is a perfectly flat course with two laps around a rugby field. Might give it a go next week.

The one I did go to (Mole Valley) is a single lap with the first half being almost entirely uphill and then a fast downhill/flat second half. It was tough! I had no idea what to expect until I was running, and it's very demotivating to reach the top of a hill only to find another hill behind it. That kept happening!

Fnished in 25:07 with mile times of 8:37, 8:50, and 7:09. Slowest 5k I've run in a long time but it was a great course. Some good views, love that it's a single lap, and a real challenge with long uphill sections but a rewarding fast finish.

I ran to and from parkrun today, 11 miles total (including parkrun). Good achievement to conserve the petrol. I hit the wall after 14km, i went from 5:30/km to 6/km. 10km is definitely my limit.

I got blister on my right arch, an my left knee feels like glass.

Managing to get running again properly for the first time since September. Knee is slowly starting to improve which is nice. I have missed it so much  - Ran 8k this morning doing 5:13 kms and felt like I still had a lot in the tank which isn't horrendous considering the time out I've had where I've only been able to stair climb and cycle every day. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Trying to get my 10k below 50 minutes, best I've managed is 52:40. Might try and drop a few pounds hmm I dunno.

Do you track your km splits as you run? Can you run a 5k in <25 mins?

Three days in a row of running 8 or 9km doing 5:13s and I'm so happy to be running again :toot: - knees are definitely slightly sore as they've not been able to run properly for something like 6 months, but I'm so happy to be running again.

Yay! Just make sure to have enough rest between runs.

I've been resting almost every other day and my dodgy knee is now all healed up perfectly and feels stronger than ever. I got in a 17 mile hilly run in a couple days ago. First 12 miles were fine but I had no drink or food and then suffered for the last five. Going up and down a 400ft 25% hill twice didn't help!
Going to attempt a similar course again today but will be testing my hydration pack for the first time.

Only been out once this week and it was utter gooseberry fool. The hilly route I have to do now can be so demoralizing when you're not in the mood for it, it's not like something flat where you can just go relatively steady and try again next time, here it's still the same banana split hills all the way.

20 mile run today, my longest ever!

My brother had given me some army rations so I took those with me (energy drink, fruit bar, and a flap jack) in my first run with a hydration pack. It went.well and was much easier than usual despite all the mud and rain. Usually my energy drops around mile 10, but with fuel and water that didn't happen this time, and pace remained consistent until about mile 18 when the legs started to ache.

I do regularly look down at the Fitbit while running. I can do 5k in 25 but it's hard work. Dunno if I should be doing more sprint/jog intervals on practice runs. There is a local running club I should probably join but I like to lone ha

I'm the same I should probably join the local running group but the main thing for me about running is being in my own, de-stressing from life and sorting out my thoughts.

Though I do think running with others will improve you quicker, I always run quicker on park runs due to the competition
