Im the same as you, it gets a bit bunched up for a while and takes a few km before you get your own running space

Not sure of chip time yet but not a PB I think about 54 mins? I made the mistake of starting near the back and having to plough through people for the first km to get to where i should have been in the pack. Hottest day in weeks here too everyone was suffering, for being out of my element and never running in a crowd or without earphones i think i did alright though, had chest pains at the 5.5k mark that ruined me but I did it. SOoo much harder to get will power without some tunes or a podcast going on. Brilliant event though and if you ever find yourself in the north coast at this time of year give the Mey 10K a bash ha.

Broke my 5 Mike on in training last night 38:35 really pleased and it's the first time I have ran that far since January!!!

Anyway is it ok when running to run on the opposite side of the road running towards traffic? I see runners do it all the time and I live in a tiny village surrounded by fields and farms so traffic is really low and not all the routes have paths.
I had some dick last night scream at me yelling at me to run on the other side of the road but to me it feels safer as if someone is not looking I can at least jump out the way as I can anticipate the situation! Make sense?

Wait, you mean facing traffic? You're meant to face traffic as a pedestrian if there's no pavement. I see no reason why it shouldn't be the same if you're running, not like you're going that fast compared to vehicles.

yes always run so you can see traffic coming towards you, doing otherwise is madness

I did an orienteering class when I was younger and they told us to always walk towards traffic as it's safer. Well done on you running by the way, I'm currently doing 4 miles in around 36:53.

I keep injuring myself so haven't been able to do as much training as I would like.

First parkrun this morning went better than Mey 10k last week pacing wise, forgot to stop my watch but should be under 25 minutes, I'll have to add this into my routine now that was kinda fun. :D

I think they meet for coffee after but I had to make sure to get home to catch royal mail but next week.

And yeah I would say the only exception to running facing traffic is if you're doing an event that's marshaled, they had us on the left side of the road for our race but they had signs all over the place and well there was 300 odd of us. I'll never make the mistake of running single track roads again, terrifying when a 18 wheeler style lorry lumbers up behind you.

EDIT just got the email 24:41 :toot:

Someone posted this video of our parkrun on the local FB running page, didn't realise parkrun tourism was a thing. You can totally see my sexy back slevering shite to one of the volunteers at 7:07 lolz

Did this today: https://www.madbullevents.com/race-the-train-bury-to-rawtenstall

Tough going, but the most important thing is I beat the train :toot: Point-to-point race so we went back to Bury on the steam train. Not every race where you can do something like that.

Nice t-shirt and medal too:

The track on MK64 where the train strawberry floats you up springs to mind.

Now an official half marathoner :toot:

Really pleased with my time - 1:33:23. Was really hot, again, but I managed and had enough for a fast final couple of miles. Doing the Manchester half in October so I've got something to aim for now.

Hey everyone,

Not posted here for a while but scanning through the last few pages it looks like everyone’s do ok running wise, well done.

Not had a great first half of the year to be honest with illness and injury but looking to have a good summer of training for Spartathlon in September.

Doing a bit of short stuff aswell as part of our club championship. Damn, short stuff is uncomfortable for old legs :)

I've recently become one of those wankers who sets the treadmill to a fast pace and jumps on and off every once in a while (200 metres on, 300 metres off).

Worked my way up to 21kmph for 6 sprints. It's bloody hard.

Completely smashed my 5k PB today at my local Parkrun!

I have been working on my speed the last 6 week's by doing interval sessions and went from 22:33 down to 21:25 today, really satisfying to get such a massive improvement.

Ive done 18 different tourism runs so far. Apparently to become an official tourist you need 20.

My half marathon training continued in earnest this morning, ran 7 miles in the heat, absolutely brutal.
