I live on top of the hill and towards the Carlton Centre. So I just run towards the city centre and around the lanes, past the big Tesco etc. Swoop around the Cathedral a few times sometimes. I avoid downhill.

The very outer part of my left knee joint is hurting like a bitch after yesterday's run, to the point where I was just limping around the office grimacing like herr flic of the gestapo all afternoon :dread:

No idea either, wasn't doing anything different to normal, still hurts now.

Safety pin on the hip should be alright.

I managed 56min in the Aintree 10K. I bit disappointed, I had been running 54 on my training runs and was aiming for 55. I think that I was held up by too many fat bottomed girls, for some reason or another. Met Ron Hill too which was nice.

I'd love to run a marathon at some point, the hassle of getting into one just puts me off the whole idea though.

Still not had mine through however Anung mistook it for junk mail last year and let it sit hidden in a pile for a week so I'm not entirely convinced it's royal mails fault.

Seeing as my bike got nicked and I can't cycle to Amsterdam (and the cycling aspect of our tour has been a total flop of problems) I've signed myself up to the Brussels half marathon tomorrow instead. Gunna go buy a gooseberry fool ton of pasta to make up for my complete lack of training.

If you don't go sub 90, I'm disowning you. Training or no training.

Decided to train for a half marathon. Can currently run around 8 miles. Just the final 5.1 to find then...

Done in 2:20 Ish? Not bad considering I signed up yesterday and I've been smoking so much more than exercising or anything.

Last 2k was steep downhill on cobbles. What demon planned that route :dread:

How often do you all change your running shoes? I've been using mine about a year and a half now and there's little sign of any wear, but one of the people I run with thinks it could be the source of my bad leg which has ruined my last 4 runs as it occurs about half way around and I'm nearly limping by the end.

You should be changing them every 300 miles or so is my understanding, although I don't do that and it seems only "professional" runners stick to it with any frequency. I tend to buy a new pair every year or so.

They're like new really but she was saying the support is the thing that gets worn down.

That's it, really. The shoes will still look fine and be usable for casual wear, but the support wears pretty quickly so if you're running a lot, you need to change shoes regularly or you'll end up with poor support and probably in quite a bit of pain.

Yep, sounds like that's what I need to do. I can always keep my current ones for gym use anyway.
Think I'll go to one of those places that look at your gait etc.
