Completely looking forward to the next organised half. Going to try and start training for a full marathon but I feel like that's quite a long way away as yet... Trying to choose a run for over summer before the Bournemouth one in Oct

Nice one mini E!

Ended up doing 6 miles in the end

Ran it in 52:57 which I'm told is quite good.

Shall I call it 10k so it sounds more I impressive? :shifty:

My boss does that. Always works in Ks so the numbers are higher.

I can't make it work in my head - I spent so long doing the 400m in my youth that I just 'know' what a quarter/half/mile feels like.

Only .1 miles off being 10k so as good as ;) I work in km - Not because it sounds more impressive but I've found I'm able to judge distances far better in km while I'm running, even though I use miles for all other distance calculations when I'm travelling. Completely logical, obviously! 52:57 is a really good time for a 10k - particularly when it was your first one for a while! Nice one!

First one ever and it was 6.2 miles ;)

But yes, cheers :toot:

My legs are hurting today. Thinking I might do a 4 mile early in the week and a 6 on Fridays, work permitting.

Had a weigh in this morning and I'm bang on 12 stone, meaning I only need to lose 2 more lbs and I've lost 2 stone in total :datass:

Local parish council becomes first in the world to charge a parkrun event. Stupid short-sighted fools, they can't pay so all that will happen is the event is cancelled

An utterly ridiculous decision. Saw this on the news earlier and half-expected it to be the 1st of April. Ridiculous.

I saw that too. There is a junior parkrun event there too, and presumably the council want to tax that. Do councils tax junior football teams when they play on local parks?

Another 6 mile one today, slightly faster than the last time too. Wasn't even out of breath at the end which was an odd feeling.

Good man! Glad to hear improvements. Are you actually enjoying going out for the runs?

Kind of. I enjoy the social aspect of it as I usually go out with the same guy and we chat all the way around, which of course is another indication that there's more to give as you shouldn't be able to talk if you're trying hard enough. If he's not in work on a running day its rare I'll go on my own as I find it really boring and I don't like having my hearing blocked with music as our route is a small country lane.

Its definitely getting easier to push more and go further now though, which in itself is the big motivator.

That and not being a fat banana split any more

Yeah you definitely should not be capable of talking all the way round . You must look like those single mum types at the gym who hold onto the sides of the inclined treadmill and talk to their single mum type mates the entire time.

Off to Parkrun in a bit. Hopefully they won't ask me for £1 when I get there!

Running 8m 30 miles so it's other like we're walking around. I think when we're going for it we get into the 7s but it's unpleasant to say the least.

24m 4s today. Felt like I was going to throw up at the finish line.

Under 24 minutes next week!
