Yep, went for a run about 6pm yesterday, didn't actually think it was that bad until I got home and realised how sweaty I was

Tried a run yesterday morning at 6am and it was still too warm for it. Just energy sapping. Was dripping with sweat by the end and it was only a 4.5 mile one

I went for a 5k run today, having taken a break of a few weeks (due to holiday). Yeah, it was hot!

Track was too hot for speed work last night. Meant to be 10k tonight but might ask if I can lead a 5k group and end at the pub.

Another hot run last night for 10k but the guy leading chose a relivily covered route which was nice. ALthough bugs everywhere!

Went for a nice recover 5k with a mate this morning and that was good. Over did it this week running everyday and will do parkrun tomorrow.

I ran the Sandringham half marathon this morning. My first (and probably last  ) summer half marathon. Brutally hot and humid and run mainly on soft and uneven grassy trails so didn’t get the bounce of a road run. Ended up finishing in 2hrs 11 minutes about 20 minutes slower than my last half back in March. I think I underestimated just how devastating the effects of the heat would be. Great location and meds but I think I’ll give this one a miss next time!

I think for every degree above 15, its supposed to add about 5 seconds per mile.

I did a 10k this morning was 6 minutes 20 slower than the same course a week and a half a go. My legs were/are incredibly stiff from a Thursday legs gym session. Could feel it in every step.

Parkrun yesterday was 5 minutes slower than last week as well.

That’s interesting, and makes me feel a bit better  i could see an awful lot of people suffering today, just walking because of the oppressive heat.

I ran the Edinburgh marathon last month and the last five miles of that was like the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan with people just dropping, it wasn’t quite as hot but the sunshine really took its toll. I’ve run lots of halfs and a bunch of marathons but I had never seen anything quite like that. 20 to 30 people in the recovery position, on iv drips, one guy on his hands and knees just team America projectile vomiting on the pavement outside Musselburgh. Some guy passed out fell and hit his head on the kerb and was receiving CPR on the race course, luckily I didn’t see this one!!

I guess what I’m trying to say is I’ve learnt to respect the heat and the sunshine and really dial it back when the conditions make it tough and just not take the risk

Well done! I haven't done it, but I live relatively close to Sandringham and imagine it's an awesome place to do a run.

Did another 5k tonight. Weirdly, my Fitbit has stopped tracking the route and just saves the route for my first minute or so. I've signed out and back in, hoping that will fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

Went to a Runners Needs shop and got some gait analysis done and ended up getting some new running shoes (hoka ariah 6 is anyone is interested). They are more of a stability shoe as the gait analysis shoes I'm in the cusp of neutral v stability. Never tried stability shoes before (didn't actually know they were a thing...).

First time using them today amd I have a blister

Doesn't seem too bad and hoping after a couple more runs in them there won't be any issues, but did dampen my new shoe optimism

How are they now they're broken in? I'm in dire need of some new shoes and thinking I probably should get gait analysis done.

Yeah they're good now, taken a couple of weeks to get used to them but glad I did it.

The gait analysis I did was free (at a runners need shop) and they weren't pushy with selling either. I got the shoes from there a week layer after some more research and they also do a 15% (I think) discount if you do parkrun as well which is good!

I've upped my volume of running in the last couple of weeks and now have a pretty big blister on the arch of my left foot :fp:

I'm pretty sure it is due to the shoes, these are the first support shoes I've worn and looking online other people have complained of similar blisters as the shoes are quite narrow.

Obviously I can't return them now and I don't have the receipt as I got them back in Feb I think, just annoying that I finally splashed out on some proper running shoes instead of a sports direct job and if I go more than 8km I seem to get blisters. Now torn in what to do, there were another pair I tried when at the gait analysis which were neutral (they said I was on the cusp of neutral/support), but again they are quite pricey so will essentially feel like paying twice for a pair of running shoes.

First World Problems etc.

That new trainers feeling :datass: I forget what a spring it puts in your step. Dogshit slow as usual but at least it was a soft trip.

I must look hilarious at times to the dog walkers, as someone got treated to seeing me go past, bald, grimacing, sweating my bollocks with the theme tune to the sopranos blasting out

Done 30KM a week every week this year, this week I'm still on 0, and I'm not doing anything today. May just sack it off for a week. Unless I pull out a half marathon tomorrow and another medium run on the weekened it aint happening.

My sciatica has returned although it doesn't seem to be affecting my current speed which is something. It's probably due to all the hill runs I have done whilst in Devon.

Just signed up for the Sodbury Slog!

My Sciatica has started to return, so far it's not really impacting my running but (like now) when im not there is a constant pain.

Went for a run in the rain yesterday and it was actually quite enjoyable! I would usually sack it off if it is raining when I'm about to head out, I think the fact it was still warm and raining helped a lot.

Also reverted back to my old running shoes and had no issues.

Going to Dusseldorf this week with work and hoping to get a run along the Rhine in one morning.

Last two Track sessions I seem to be getting slower. Will be interesting what I run on Saturday at parkrun as I am back to my home one.
