PostSaboteur: Accounts Revealed!

A solitary figure trudged slowly through the snowbreeze. Scarf drawn up tight, hands in pockets, shielding from the cold. It had been a long hard journey, but the goal was in sight. Jhee-ar-Khade. A town of miscreants, rogues and people who'd sooner stick a knife in your back then a penny in your hand. A town full of targets. The Saboteur had been sent to claim this pissant little town for his higherups. "Meet the contacts in the city, and do not bother to contact us until it is yours. Agis Quod Adis." the message had read. Short and simple.

A wiry-thin man approached the figure, huddling up from the razor-sharp winds. The fool unknowingly marching his way to the great black beyond. One flick of a wrist, one thrust of a blade and death greeted him with arms colder than the winds. The Saboteur donned the man's clothes, took his identification.

And like that, an agent of manipulation, murder and misdirection was in.

Sitting down in the local cafe, known as The Tea, Arsey Tea, two eyes examined the room and found their intended target. A curt nod. A short handshake, and a simple sentence.

"Together, we'll take this town."

Welcome to The Saboteur!

The Saboteur is my first attempt at a forum game and riffs off the usual system of the Werewolf/Mafia games. However, I've decided to experiment with the formula a bit and implement some changes- some apparent (Anonymous Accounts) and some that will become clearer over time. The game sticks to the idea of an informed minority attempting to take on the uninformed majority. However, there are two small differences this time around. Firstly, the minority will be initially, 3. You may think this sets things heavily against the Saboteur and his team, but the second difference balances this out- for the minority will not stay like this for long. For every 8 kills the Saboteur makes (That's 4 nights of killing.) they shall gain another "Accomplice" to join his initial two. The Accomplice shall be picked randomly and to make very clear, Special Roles will not change sides via this method. There may be other methods in which the Saboteur can persuade people to his team- but the Citizens also have the power to get them back. A converted accomplice though does suffer from pangs of guilt for their treachery- they're not bound to tell the Saboteur what they know...

Anonymous Accounts- The Rules

As you must have noticed by now, this game will be played with entirely new accounts that you should have received details to via PM. You will receive all game information via these accounts and will make all game-related communication via these accounts. You are not to use your actual GRCade account to communicate. If anyone is found to do this, they shall be punished. Now, some rules to make sure things run smoothly...

1) No posting in the game thread using your normal GRCade account whatsoever. There will be severe punishment for this, regardless of which side you are on. Similarly, no posting in other GRCade threads with your Game Account.
2) You are not allowed to pretend to be anybody else via PM. In the thread you can claim to be whoever you like, but you are not to tell someone you are Member X via PM to gain their trust when infact you are Member Y.
3) No sigs.
4) Avatars are allowed for purposes of clarity and making the thread easy to read. However I ask that they either relate to the Account Name or do not hint at your actual identity at all.
5) To make this perfectly clear, Account Names have Zero Meaning.
6) By all means use your usual GRCade account as normal on the rest of the board.
7) Please, please don't forget your password. I cannot reset it.

The Roles

Saboteur: A highly-trained individual, The Saboteur is armed only with wits and two accomplices. Their aim is to make sure their team has either an equal number, or majority over the Citizens of Jhee-ar-Khade. If they do, he and his team win. Due to his expertise in all matters of subterfuge, The Saboteur cannot be discovered by any Detective skills. As they have been highly trained just for this purpose, The Saboteur can also pull off feats that most people cannot. There are two special feats that he can pull off. However, they cannot be done straight away and not without risk- they might just get caught in the act...The Saboteur will kill one person on Day Zero to kick things off. From that point onward he and his team will make 2 kills a night. If the number of accomplices drops to 0, this will reduce to 1. If the team increases to 4, they will make 3 kills a night.

Accomplice: A follower of The Saboteur, knowing of their plans, but never their identity. They only win if The Saboteur wins. Their main role is to carry out The Saboteur's needs- killing, steering votes to their liking, getting into the Mayoral role...and if The Saboteur is killed, they will try to finish the job- although the devastating blow of losing their leader means they will have to retreat for a night. They have no special abilites.

Citizen: The usual mundane human being, the Citizen still plays a key role- trying to piece together the mystery, as well as voting for people they believe to be trying to off them. The Citizens win only if both Saboteur and Accomplices are dead.

Detective: As close as you can get to the law in Jhee-ar-Khade, The Detective has the ability to investigate one person a night, revealing their true identity and any special role that they may be. A key role in trying to build together a safeguarded network to figure out who is behind the killings.

DensterkillerVigilante: Not content to rely on the rest of the Citizens, A Vigilante is someone armed only with their suspicion and a gun. They may decide to shoot any other person in the game they suspect of being The Saboteur or one of his accomplices- but they can only do this a limited amount of times....

Mayor: A role that shifts daily, the Mayor is appointed by public vote- people will campaign each day based on who they want to go up for the lynch, and when a Mayor is elected they then put forward the two people they wish to see lynched- although it doesn't have to be who they suggested while campaigning. The Mayor, as a perk of the role also enjoys immunity from killing the night of their tenure. Nobody can be Mayor two days in a row. The Mayor also may be presented with "Emergency Powers" at certain times in order to combat The Saboteur- but they come with risks. If it goes well, they're a hero- if it doesn't, the angry mob awaits...

There are also some other special folk running around- some you may be accustomed to seeing, some which are believed to be completely new.

For a quick clarification: Citizens win only by killing Saboteur and all Accomplices. Saboteur & Accomplices only win if they equal or outnumber Citizens. The Saboteur does not need to live for this to happen.

Schedule

(All times GMT- subject to change depending on circumstances)

For the first day (Friday), The Saboteur will be granted one kill. There will be no voting, Detective or Vigilante actions on this Day. After those events play out, people may campaign for Mayor for "Day 1" (Saturday). From then on...

Before 3PM: The Villagers should have come to a Majority on the Mayor for the Day.
By 6PM: The Mayor will have PM'ed me the two people up for the lynch. I shall then announce them in the thread. People may then PM me their vote for who gets Lynched.
By 8PM: The votes are tallied and one player goes to the Gallows and is lynched.
By 10PM: The Saboteur will have PM'ed me their kill for the night. All othr roles can be PM me their actions for the night.
Before Midnight: Saboteur kill occurs (if Successful) and all other roles receive feedback on their actions. Mayoral Campaigning starts for the next day.

Final Notes

Do not post screen-shots of PM's in the thread.
No posting after you've been killed. Your side will be punished if you do not abide by this.
No revealing who you are after you've been killed. One of the best aspects of this should be the aftermath as I will do a "post-game" report which will slowly reveal players identities as a post-game bonus.
No joke Twitter accounts and whatnot.
If you fail to post 3 days in a row, I will not hesitate to remove you from the game. I do ask everyone posts at least a couple times a day in the thread, even if it's just to vote for a Mayor.
For those of you new to the game, DML has an archive game of Are You A Vampire? On the first page of The Archive that's a good way to learn. Also, make sure not to let on your roles until you entirely trust somebody.

And so we start. Will Jhee-ar-Khade succumb to The Saboteur? Or will they band together and win the day? It's all up to you...

One Last Thing: By the time this thread is posted, every player will have received a PM to their Game Account with their role. IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED THIS, PM ME IMMEDIATELY.

For those of you wondering why there's a day long "Day Zero", it's because with the anonymous accounts and a few new elements, combined with me running my first forum game, I'm giving a day of low activity to work out any problems that occur (I'm anticipating at least 3 people forgetting their password). Take this as a chance to ask any questions and get some talk going in the thread so you have something to work from on Saturday.

I do hope that any mods playing are unable to link our accounts together via IP. That would be most unsporting.

I don't think any of the fine fine modulars in the GRcade arena would be so uncouth.
