Sausage sandwich and Hot dog are two different things. Hot dog is not a sandwich in the way that a burger is not a sandwich.

McDonalds Drive-thru attendant: "Aye, that's reet. As a meal or.... on it's own as a sandwich?"

Not sure what accent you're attempting there. Appears to be a mixture of Lancastrian and Geordie.

the Mancunian patois would be "alright, our kid. Sort us out with a quarter poundorrr with cheese"
"No probs, our kid! You want it as your tea or do you just want to scran the burger down your Gregory peck?"

"On it's own is mintball, fella. Top one!"

'Our kid' is used in Sheffield too.

One of my older cousins actually named her pet goldfish that, a goldfish which I would later be given (I renamed it Fred), it lived for bloody ages too.

You occasionally hear "our kid" used round my way too or "wor kid" in Newcastle specifically to mean a younger sibling as in " Me and our/wor kid were on the lash last night".

It means mate or pal in the republic of Mancunia.

Sometimes you get
hey our kid (to a friend)
Just saying the other day to our kid dave(another mate) that our kid (an Actual sibling) hadn't Seen our kid (you) in ages .

Our kid (sibling) will be proper made up. It's well good to see yaw.

All this is said with a variety of facial expressions that look like the speaker is in pain. You can be so Mancunian it hurts.

That's why they often say "awwwwwww"

Butty. :dread: :dread: It's such a stupid word to use as an alternative to a sandwich. It makes me visualise someone eating a sandwich with a slice of arse as a filling. Controversial filling to say the least!

Northern slang in general. :dread: Calling your evening meal "tea" instead of dinner. Makes it sound like your dinner is purely a cup of tea.

When you grow up with it, you learn to instinctively tell the two apart.

Do you people actually eat french fries in between two slices of bread and call that food?! :dread:

I thought the worst fry variety I'd ever seen was when a pizzeria near me had french fries as a topping.

I don't know anyone who uses French fries. They should always be thick, chip shop style chips.

I thought in the UK, chips = Fries

Also the problem is the same, you are eating fried potato wedged between bread.

Yes, but there are different kinds of chips.

French fries are the super fine ones, like you get in McDonald's. If you want a chip butty, you should use thicker cut chips.

According to this, I am northern. I only use butty for chips between bread or a roll/bap though.

What would you call a chip butty? I always assumed it was a nationwide thing, do some areas call them something else?

I'm from London and I call it a chip butty.
