It’s rare these days that I sit and play a game for more than 90 minutes in one session, but on Friday I ended up playing almost 4 hours in the blink of an eye. Had two new gadgets introduced and they’re both excellent. Puzzle design is as tight as ever.

Outside the puzzles is very different. In terms of player interaction and narrative design it’s miles ahead of the first game but I don’t know if it’s going to be as affecting as my text chats with Milton yet.

I had my four hour session last night -

(I haven't even left the city yet)

Similar here! About three hours in, and I did the intro kind-of-tutorial puzzles. Felt great to be back in that environment. Then spent the rest of the time exploring the city, ahh-ing over cats, and doing all the museum puzzles. I did finally set off for the expedition, but left it there for tonight.

Got an hour into the original last night and it seems good. Looking forward to playing more.

The opening twenty minutes was very much "This is going to be a walking simulator for the next two hours, we'd better give you some puzzles otherwise you'll switch off"

I hadn’t thought about it like that but yeah, you’re absolutely right! I guess it does give you the option of skipping the city exploration, but what kind of monster would do that?

Of course, when asked to choose the level of detail for the history of humanity, I chose excruciating detail.

Finished the first batch of puzzles. Most were pretty simple once I got the hang of the RGB splitter but got a bit stumped on the final one. The developers are really good at balancing the difficulty of the puzzles. They always stump you just the right amount to give you a challenge but not be too frustrating.

It's excellent so far.

Another batch done, was quite busy this weekend so didn't get much gaming in.

By “batch” do you mean you’ve done East 1 and East 2 now?

I’m assuming there are more sites after this initial ring. Hopefully many more.

Anyone used the Prometheus switches? Are they literally level-skips, as suggested?

I think so, yeah, you have to find a flame to power them so it’s really just trading in a flame for one of the 8 swarms needed to activate the central tower of that particular area.

Yeah. I've only done a couple of things off the main path though.

There were 130 puzzles in TTP so I'd expect similar or more.

Off the top of my head there's 8 main puzzles per site plus 2 lost, 1 golden and the sigil bridge. With 8 tube stops (haven't actually counted the map) that'd be just under 100, and I'd imagine there will be at least one final area.

I’m up at North 2 and every new puzzle mechanic they’ve introduced so far has been excellent. There’s no misses so far (aside from the bridge building to get to each tower). Can’t imagine how many chambers didn’t make the cut when the ones in here are so tight.

There are 12 of those things you didn’t count on the map (3 per direction). But there are even more not represented by breaking up the map.

Imagine if all the puzzles are genuinely AI-generated.

Bought this yesterday after finishing the room 4 (Which is a great series of puzzle games if you've not tried it) and wanting some more puzzle action.

Loved the way it started with it being exactly like the first game, tricking you. Then going on to be something totally different and unexpected. Only done 2 of the rgb initial puzzles so far, but can't wait to play more.

Just about to hit 40 hours and we've done all of the main puzzles, all the stars and have 5 golden gate puzzles left to do.

If the stars are anything like the original, that's impressive! I only managed a handful.

Sadly not. There are two per area, and they're clearly marked by big statues rather than being within existing levels. There's a mix of things to do to get the star, and they're marked on the front.

We've been enjoying it, but it's been pretty easy really, with only a few puzzles taking a session to work out.
