Murray's lost his belief. I'm sure he just mouthed "it's not happening". And if he no longer feels he can win this, that nothing is going his way no matter what he does, then it's gone. Questions will now be raised about his mental game...

Total mental collapse. The ability was there, the opportunity was there; the state of mind deserted him completely. Lendl, it seems, was the only one capable of reining in that side of Andy, and he's gone. If he wins another slam it'll be an amazing achievement, but now I don't think he will; he's at the peak of his powers technically and physically. If he has a time, this should be it. Gutted.

Pretty abject from Murray in the last set and a half. To lose 11 games in a row in a slam final is piss poor.
Great from Novak though.

Shame Murray's level dropped. :(

Was shaping up to be a classic contest. Novak massively improved on his previous performances this fortnight so well done to him.

One thing Novak has over Andy is that ability to nail forehands from anywhere, especially on hardcourt, whereas Andy needs to work the rally to get into the position to hit forehand winners. Otherwise their games are almost identical in tennis ability.

Plus Novak has that machine-like mode he can enter into, Andy's always been more of a see-saw player in that sense. Both are excellent players though, they were by far the two best players of the tournament.

Andy has a bit more of an edge over Novak on grass I think (even under Lendl he struggled to get on top of Novak on the AO surface), so it'll be interesting to see what happens if they both get to the final at Wimbledon.

Kind of bored of Djokovic's possum-play. The commentators fall for it every time, wondering out loud what's wrong with him and if he'll be able to carry on. I don't even think it's gamesmanship, just his own weird hypochondria.

Djokovic was just too good today and not many players would have stopped him today.

It was a good Australian open for Murray. He beat two top 10 players and a future one in Krygiaos. Last year, I'm sure he had a spell where he didn't beat a top 10 player for a while. He also made a grand slam final again.

Djokovic these days has ups and downs. To beat him, you have to take advantage of his weird patches, and try to ride out the periods in which he's god-like. Early in the 3rd set, if Murray had pressed hard and got a double break, Djokovic would have capitulated the set completely (see: 4th set US Open final 2013, 3rd set RG final 2014, 3rd set RG semi-final 2013).

Well that's the difference. Djokovic had the mentality to be ruthless, when Murray wasn't playing well. Where as Murray didn't.

Really hope Djokovic wins the French open this year. He deserves to join the club that have won all four slams.

This is why it's so frustrating to see Murray not do this. The opportunity was there. The ability is there. But he's incapable of maintaining the necessary state of mind to come through these occasions.

Mind games takes up 99% of the modern tennis game. Murray needs to sort this out pronto. I think he knows which is why he was getting frustrated with himself.

Djokovic beat Murray in four sets in the Aus Open final the year Murray won Wimbledon, so it's not like he's not capable of getting over that.

Whilst true, at least Murray (when on form) only has really one man to beat, and thats Djoko himself. Nadal and Federer clearly starting their fade out of the game, and there doesn't yet seem to be the brigh young gun to take either of them down. Wouldn't be at all suprised if we see Djoko/Murray twice more in a Grand Slam Final this year.

I got Court 1 tickets for the second Friday. Doubt I'll be seeing anyone good.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.
