A new thread for us to discuss Andy Murray's glorious run to this year's Wimbledon Championship.

250 pages etc.

PES Fan wrote:He looks better. But he has lost the last 8 games against Djokovic, which is shocking to be honest. Obviously grass is his best chance and we don't know how Djokovic will be after losing the French open.

Federer won Halle. But his problem is that his body can't hold up to a grandslam and he tends to nowadays get knocked out early. If Federer is in the semi finals then you wouldn't back against him winning the tournament.

I dunno, I'd back Murray to beat Federer.

Your point concerning Federer in Grand Slams, knowing he doesn't tend to make it as far as he used to I looked at his ranking points to figure out how he is still seeded ahead of Murray. He wins a lot of those little ATP 1000 events doesn't he.

The ATP 1000 events are big scorers for ranking points - they're second only to the Slams I think.

Would it be a good idea to keep a list of the Slam and ATP Finals champions in the first post, Drum, along with TV viewing info for them? I like to know what's going on and sometimes can be right gooseberry fool at finding info on the internet.

His performance at Queens really reminded me of how he looked in 2013 at the same tournament, so it bodes well for Wimbledon. Novak's simply a better player, not by much but enough to make it incredibly difficult for Andy to overcome. Grass courts suit Andy best, so I think it pretty much levels the playing field between them.

Would they meet in the final?

Interestingly Nadal is ranked 10th for Wimbledon so could meet either Djoko or Murray at the quarter final stage.

Denny, Murray is seeded third and would play Djokovic in the Semi final.

Bums that's annoying I had forgotten to look up the seedings this year.

Not necessarily. Don't know who plays who till the draw is made.

Sorry, that was meant to say could, not would.

Could be Nadal, Federer, then Djokovic from QF onwards. :dread:

Wawrinka will be hugely dangerous here also.

10th? Wow I didn't realise Nadal had dropped that low. Such a shame as he is/was a great player. :(

I'd fancy Murray to beat most people at Wimbledon but Djoko is in a class of his own and he knows he can beat Murray.

Novak will be so, so fired up for Wimbledon after missing out on the French. If he'd have achieved his career slam at Roland Garros I'd have backed him to take an unintentional mental lull and that would mean it's Murray's tournament to take, but as it is I can't see past Djokovic.

I would absolutely love a rematch of the 2013 final.

As it is though, the stars will probably align to allow Federer an easy route to the final whereas Murray and Djokovic will have to battle past Wawrinka and Nadal to play in the semis.

That Tarango one was hilarious because he just sounded like a whining baby all the way through it.

That could work both ways. In 2012 and 2013 his season collapsed after coming so close to winning the French. So it depends on how he is mentally.

One of my friends works at Wimbledon and apparently Murray bagelled Rafa in a practice match :shifty:

Wimbledon draw

BBC wrote:Andy Murray faces a tricky route a potential final meeting with Novak Djokovic.

The Scot may have to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the last 16, either David Ferrer or Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals and Roger Federer in the semis.

Not great for Murray but great for quality tennis and drama.

The draw has been made. Murray wouldn't face Djokovic until the final provided they both make it, potentially facing Tsonga, Nadal/Ferrer and Federer to get there

No Wawrinka in his draw either right? Good stuff. Federer and Nadal are now both beatable. Game on!
