Started on the book. There's something about Simmons writing that makes me feel in love with his books like no others. So good.

The way Crozier is written in this book is fantastic. He's just such a strawberry floating man. think the most amazing thing about the book tho is that (supernatural gooseberry fool aside), almost everything that happens in the book, happened in real life down to the smallest detail. Simmons researched the living strawberry float out of this story

https://www.vox.com/culture/2018/3/26/1 ... red-harris

i’m normally the first to sigh over a TV series that doesn’t seem to start its story until hour four or five — as is arguably true of The Terror — but the storytelling here, from a team led by David Kajganich and Soo Hugh, gains strength from its slow burn. The utter desolation and horror of the series’ back half is made more potent by how relatively normal things are for the first few episodes, before reality starts to buck and heave like the ever-shifting ice. (Those worried that this will play very slowly week to week should know that each episode has a “mission” at its core that the men undertake to survive. You have a reasonable expectation it won’t go well, but the show is surprisingly episodic and engaging from week to week.)

This sounds a little like the old eye-rolling excuse of “Just wait until it gets good!” but I would suggest that the things that make The Terror such terrific TV are, ultimately, inextricable from the things that make the first few episodes a tougher sit. You need to feel the boredom and the anxiety that stems from waiting for the ice to open up just enough to press forward, on toward the North American west coast. And the more the men are cooped up together, the darker their feelings toward each other turn, which really requires living in the stew with them for a while.I

Watched episode 1 last night. Thought it was pretty great, despite a few changes from the book. Off to a good start anyway. They nailed the atmosphere

I have a very vivid idea of what scurvy looks like from reading the book, I'm not sure I'm ready to actually watch it.

Just got to the bit in the book where the Terror goes for Blanky on the deck and the Carnivale after. Things are definitely hotting up lol.

The series will premiere in the UK – exclusive to BT customers.

UK viewers will be able to watch the two-hour series premiere on Tuesday, April 24th at 9pm on AMC – BT TV channel 332/381 HD.

BT Sport Pack customers will be able to watch on Sky Guide channel 192.

So if you don't have BT you're out of luck and will have to download it.

Not been able to find a full season download yet (Apparently AMC Premier subscribers have access to the full series now), but I watched the first two episodes last night and it's pretty good. Looking forward to the rest.

Theres one major change to the book in episode 2 that im having a hard time seeing how theyre going to handle it

Hickey doesnt have Magnus Manson as his sex slave?? Hickeys power came from the fact that he had this strawberry floating giant in his thrall. I dont know what theyre gonna do with him now.

But aside from that my only complaint is that it does seem to be moving way too fast.
