Righto. A quick thread to ask for opinions of old games your thinking of buying soon.

You know those games you didn't buy at the time, and want to find out impressions/opinions about now as your thinking of buying, but they don't have a thread.

So...mine are:

Lost Planet (£10)
Bioshock (£12)
Ass. Creed (£10)

Opinions/Impressions please!

Get Colonies edition of Lost Planet as that has some new single player modes and the multi player is still thriving(You can play as Frank West too). Bioshock you should get regardless and Assassin's Creed is worth a go just for the ambition that went into the game.

How do I know if it's Colonies edition?

Yey.

Someone else is playing.

Thanks guys. I'm looking for more info though - I need something fun/action/quick paced to be a counter point to the JRPGS I've played/will be playing soon.

Will these meet thaT?

Lost Planet (£10) - Alright game, above average and some really nice visuals. The whole T-Eng system is appalling though.

Bioshock (£12) - Good game with incredible art design but hilariously overrated and didn't deserve all the GOTY awards. Starts to drag and get repetitive towards the end.

Ass. Creed (£10) - Again, massively overrated and repetitive. Failed to live up to what was promised. Stunning visuals, great character animation and interesting plot. Shame about the rest.

Can't complain with those prices though.

Bioshock was a contender for GOTY last year so you can't go wrong at that price.

Perhaps.

LP is good, but has a bit of that Japanese design annoyance with controls, stuff like being locked into an animation when you get hit and fall over, also can get very annoying on a few of the boss characters. Still a pretty good action game though.

Bioshock is a bit of a creepy, slower paced FPS with lots of atmosphere, maybe not quite what you are looking for, but is brilliant never the less. Amazing story and sense of place.

AC...its a difficult one, because it gets very repetitive and it has some absolutely stupid design in places, but it looks amazing and the freedom it gives you is great, it also has a milding entertaining story to go with it. Its not bad, but it can be even more frustrating than LP (though not as hard).

Not sure if you can get it anywhere near that cheap yet, but if you haven't played it, then I'd recommend Bad Company.

I wasnt so into Lost Planet, though its not bad. Bioshock is amazing, and Assasins Creed is awesome, ambitious, but hightly flawed.

There :P

You can get Frontlines cheaper than Bad Company and it has dedicated servers, better dialogue and the drones which make it more fun :)

But it doesn't let you blow everything up...which makes it much less fun.

Obviously not played Bad Company...its not just cosemetic damage, it completely changes how you play the game.

Whereas the Drones in Frontlines are just a gimmick, even if they are a fun one.

Well my Gamertag is Riky, you can check if I have played Bad Company. Why not give me your Gamertag HSH so I can check you have played Frontlines?

It's worth £8 definitely, the middle section of the game isn't great and it does get a bit repetitive (sp?) but as long as you enjoyed the demo it's worth picking up.
