Can't find an image for it but Xbox World did a great Homefront one which was in the style of North Korean propaganda. It came in an envelope too in 'Top Secret' style. It was awesome.

My first issue of EDGE. I remember picking it up when myself and some friends stayed over at a friend's apartment in the Republic of Ireland, near the sea. I have very fond memories of that summer--we got a very hot couple of days when we stayed over, which was a bit of a novelty--and I recall most vividly that all of us were breathlessly excited for "the new Zelda," in between playing Tales of Symphonia together. I think we pored over EDGE's preview for the game for a very long time. To our great delight, that August, we all assembled again and headed over to an unusually sunny Edinburgh, where we'd get to play the newly-named Twilight Princess at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival. The nights before that trip were restless ones; I don't think we got a wink of sleep the night before, despite having to get up early to catch a boat over to Scotland and drive across the breadth of the country before the show started.

I've never been more excited for a game in my entire life. That issue, and the summer it heralded the arrival of, were pretty much together the catalyst for all that excitement--and I think the issue, in particular, is what brought me to the original Gamesradar forums, that year.

I'm so taking credit for those two.

And that one. All three were my cover picks (and the metallic Dead Space logo colour change and the Korean propaganda & false cover were too). The Homefront issue didn't come in a top secret bag, though. Definitely not.

Course, it was Weaver and the two art boys who made the magic happen in the end.

Hopefully got some awesome-o things lined up for GamesMaster in the coming months.

I remember mine being in one, or something much like that. Not sure why then, if you're saying they didn't. It wasn't a subscriber issue or anything either, it was like that on the shelf, with Xbox World 360 on the front of it too.

That guy Wil Overton went on to work for Rare and helped design the avatars and also runs a toy import shop (binkybox or something?).

He came back to do the cover for the last issue of Nintendo Gamer.

Best cover they ever did.

What isn't evident here is that it was given that special UV coating (or something similar).

That's Wil Overton. He still does covers for Retro Gamer, and he even posts on GRCade every now and again.
