Yep, some of the staff think that, and many forumites think that too. I was personally more democratically minded, but my mind is being slowly changed with each new incident, let's put it that way! But other forumites I've spoken to really want to feel more "involved", or the promise of GRcade is somewhat broken for them. There's no way to please everyone, and at the moment it seems we're pleasing no one. Something's got to give soon on that front.

I just say take action and await the likely backlash. More often than not people only argue a decision (say, about a banning), because they want it to be an exception to the rule, or so it suits themselves. It's easier to defend that than tackle the opinions of people before a decision is made. For example, would your response be different if someone of higher standing in the community said the same thing as me in the same situation? And if DML said what I did, for example, I assume you'd be a hell of a lot more vitriolic. I only say that because if you've already made the decision, it doesn't matter as much, does it?

See, this is why I voted no to Eighthours as mod again; not the dodgy decisions or the misplaced superiority, it's the glib little comments.
