PostThe Twin Peaks Thread - It IS happening again (S3 CONFIRMED)

David Lynch and Mark Frost just tweeted this at the same time:

Dear Twitter Friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style. #damngoodcoffee

https://twitter.com/mfrost11/status/518060486156230656

:o :o

They must know what they're doing. Surely they can't be trolling us like that, it would just be cruel. Could Season 3 FINALLY be a done deal?

UPDATE: And it is! Showtime have greenlit a 9 episode third season, with all episodes to be written by Mark Frost and David Lynch, and directed by David Lynch.

FUUUUUUUUUUUCK. :o  :o :D :D :D :D :D

Me and my fiancée have been watching through the woke thing after we Tivo'd it off Syfy.

So good.

Would be so good to see this come back - I absolutely loved the series back in the day, and having caught a few episodes recently on SyFy it still manages to be completely absorbing.
I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

They should do a Fargo on it. That would be amazing.

What with the FWWM deleted scenes having just been released this year and now (potentially) this, it's a great time to be a TP fan.

Having said that, if they are going to do something new, I hope it's neither a reboot nor a direct (25 years later) sequel. Rather, I'd prefer if it was something tangential to the original series; set in the same universe but focused on a different aspect and with allusions to the original characters and storylines used sparingly. With Frank Silva no longer with us, I just don't see how a direct continuation of the Cooper storyline would work. You cannot recast Bob!.

I haven't seen the show in a while so my memory might be sketchy but didn't it finish with cooper being trapped in the black lodge and there was something about seeing cooper again 25 years later. Could it be possible they could continue it with Kyle Maclachlan getting out of the black lodge.

EDIT: did a search and it was Laura Palmer who said it

In the original Twin Peaks finale, the ghost of Laura Palmer said she would see us again in 25 years. In 2015, it will be 25 years since the first season was originally broadcast.

I loved the atmosphere and series 1, but series 2 (and who killed Laura Palmer) was a bit BS to be honest. Having said that, I'd no doubt tune in for a further series. :fp:

It does get more and more surreal. But it's easy to forget with a sort of sitcom like this that David Lynch is a surrealistic filmmaker. Watch some of his stranger films and it's no surprise at all, something I did a few years later.

Twin Peaks Returns! Showtime Orders Limited-Series Continuation of David Lynch-Mark Frost Classic

Turns out all of that Twin Peaks revival buzz was much ado about something. TVLine has learned that Showtime has given the green light to a nine-episode revival of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s seminal ’90s drama series.

I’m told this would not be a reboot but a present-day continuation — in the same vein as TNT’s Dallas. Also, sources confirm that Lynch and Frost are poised to pen all nine episodes, with Lynch directing every installment.

Lynch and Frost confirmed the news early Monday on Twitter.

As good a reason as any to finally start watching Twin Peaks on Netflix.

I saw them first. Eraserhead almost put me off eating chicken for life. What the strawberry float is wrong with that man? Twin Peaks actually seems quite normal compared to some of his late 70s and early 80s "works".
