That was a hell of a thing. Not entirely sure what I witnessed but I liked it.

That sure was an interesting episode. I'm not a big fan of 8, but there were some beautiful haunting moments that just went on a bit too much.

The story implications are fun to read into, not sure I'm too keen on where it's going right now but I'm sure that will change.

The girlfriend really likes the new series but she ended up on her phone by the halfway point in the episode.

Just watched Episode 8. THIS IS NOT TWIN PEAKS.
For me, this is the worst episode of the lot so far, which is going some. "Highlights":

* Nine Inch Nails. Why? Why the strawberry float show them playing a song in its entirety with no relevance to the story. Just time filling BS.
* The 1945 atom bomb sequence. Utter wank that went on far too long. Looked more like it was shot in the 30s B&W and then some artistic BS attempt to add colour. Again, no strawberry floating relevance to the story.
* 1956 bit. OK in that it wasn't as utter gooseberry fool as the sequences mentioned above, but something with a Silent Hill vibe and not clear how this fits into the story
* No strawberry floating Twin Peaks sequences.

After watching this episode I have to wonder if anyone watched this series before deciding to air it.

Yes?

Hmmm... to me this felt more like Twin Peaks than the flat attempts to imitate Frost and Lynch during much of season two. This was audacious television, from start to finish, and entirely consistent with Twin Peaks being a meditation on man's capacity for evil.
I hope it's not as on the nose as some of the sequences suggested, but it was fascinating. The Woodsman/men represent a chilling new element to a show that didn't really need to be more unsettling.
That said, I'm looking forward to seeing the series through in a binge-watch, to see how the editing holds up over several hours.

I think '...yet' would be a useful corollary to some of those statements. Firstly Lynch's character has a giant mushroom cloud picture in his office, and I interpret most of that episode from a quasi-Lovecraftian perspective; that splitting the atom either opened a doorway or weakened the walls between our world and whatever dimension or plane bob etc. come from, as seen by the murderous hobo and the mutant fly/frog thing emerging in the same area.

I totally agree on NIN being unnecessary, why would they play a small roadhouse in the middle of nowhere?

Just finished season 1 of this, enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting so I'm looking forward to getting into S2 (although I know it apparently dips in quality compared to S1).

One question though - I thought this was supposed to be, for want of a better word, weird? Is it S2 that has earned it that reputation or is it that I'm watching it so long after airing that the oddness doesn't stand out as much as it would at the time?

In the twin peaks universe Nine Inch Nails could be some small time band, no? Plus all these artists are quite well known, E.g. The Chromatics. Also Nine Inch Nails have featured in other lynch films such as Lost Highway. I honestly would not be surprised for one second if someone like Marilyn Manson appears at some point  Personally I'm enjoying this new season, it feels so far removed but I like it. Even if it feels completely different. Only thing I hope we see and soon is coop back to normal. I want to see how he processes all this gooseberry fool and eat some cheery pie.

You'll pretty much have your answer when you watch the first episode of S2. It gets strange in a number of ways, both delightful and troubling. But worth getting through S2 for some exceptional moments/episodes. Then the movie, which is stunning. Good times await!

Ah cool, I'm well up for season 2 now - was not expecting such a cliffhanger ending!

No new episode this week then? I was about 10 minutes into episode 8 before realising I'd already seen it. I wish the SkyGo app on PS4 would have an indicator of which episodes you've watched, or which episode you're up to.

3x12- Lynch is truly a master troll. I've been waiting all season for Audrey to appear and when she does, it's ten minutes of yelling about characters I don't know about.

I've mostly enjoyed this season but there are so many scenes that don't really serve much purpose except to confuse and fill up space. That's what it seems like anyway. That Audrey scene better have a point.

To me its picking up now; a slow momentum which i hope leads to something amazing now we're past the half-way mark.

3x15- I was really hoping they'd somehow got Bowie to film some scenes and we were going to get a surprise cameo. Instead he was a giant kettle.

-Ed and Norma
-Margaret's final scene was affecting. :(

3x16-
"I am the FBI." :datass:
-Bob murdering Richie.
- Is it just me or did Audrey in the hospital/white lodge wherever that was at the end look way better than she has all season?

Fantastic episode.

So I finally got around to watching Fire Walk With Me. I wish I had done so before starting this series as now a lot more stuff has fallen into place, even if it doesn't necessarily make sense - the ring, the blue rose etc.

Just watched ep16 - gooseberry fool is getting real. That bit when audrey's dance started playing comfirmed my suspicion that something wasn't right - she was in an exploding bank vault at the end of season 2 so this has to be something odd. Also interesting use of the soundtrack in-world.
