I can't see how you use Twitter efficiently without them. It's far easier to have say a 'news' column, a 'games' column etc yo keep up with information then use the regularly timeline for any old gooseberry fool.

Never really been that fussed to be far and I generally see most of the posts that are made so its all good. I dont have anything on there I would be pissed off if I missed so it doesn't matter.

I used to have a "real people" one but now I just use the official app and lists are more buried I dont bother.

BOOYA

Plus it picks up from where you left off across your devices. The list function in the Twitter app is pathetic. Considering they now own Tweetdeck it boggles my mind the state it is in. One last thing, no adverts.

From the looks of things they are slowly killing off Tweetdeck ever since they bought them out.

One other thing about Tweetbot is that it has it's own notification sound rather than the annoyong TRI TONE.

I literally just open the client and scan through all of the tweets since I last read. The official iphone app seems to work fine for that.

Nope. I do it raw. Twitter isn't Facebook, and I don't really care about anything older than what can be pulled down in a refresh of my feed. It's all about the stream of conversation happening right now, not what the most recent thing said was in some arbitrary subset of the people I follow.

I've got separate lists for stuff like football journalists and MMA folk who I don't actually follow. It's handy for stuff like that.

Fixed a little issue just now that caused the sigs to be broken on some loads.

The problem is that twitter's CDN sometimes drops the ball a bit and can't serve up your twitter avatar. When that happened, it just failed with a "something's gone wrong" message, which isn't an image, so you ended up with gooseberry fool like this:

Now, if it can't find your avatar, it fails more gracefully to the default twitter avatar. That's just a quick and dirty fix, though. I'll have it cache your actual avatar next time I do an update, and only try to pull it from twitter if it's changed.

What even are twitter lists. I noticed I'm on a GRcade one once, but not sure what difference that made other than twitter constantly recommending I follow other GR users.

Just lists that you can create and add people to and the tweets are separate from the normal timeline. You don't have to be following people to add them to a list either, unless their account is protected.

e.g. on my football Twitter list I have a bunch of football journalists who I don't actually follow because I don't want my normal timeline being flooded with identical "Sublime goal by Player X, 1-0 Team X" whenever there's a big game on. However, I still want to see what they are saying during times like the transfer window just now.

I noticed the GRcade Twitter the other day and assumed there would be a topic for it here on the forum! I've been a member of the site for a couple of months now, but haven't really used it all that much until just recently. I've also been a somewhat active member here on GRcade too since 2008.

I mainly use Twitter to post new pieces or to talk about my art work that I produce as a hobby, and occasionally just talk about random gaming related things in general, with the occasional random post about daily stuff that's going on thrown in to boot! So if anyone here wants to follow me, I'd most appreciate it, and I'll happily follow back! The link is below if anyone happens to be interested! :)

(Edit/Note: I'll likely follow anyone that's interested back tomorrow just as soon as I wake up, so apologies in advance if I don't immediately return the favour! I will be sure to do so tomorrow at the earliest!)

Anyone else finding the (official) Twitter app is behaving like a price of gooseberry fool at the moment (iPhone version)?

Mine struggles to load new tweets and has been since yesterday.
