Twitter launches Vine, 6 second gifs with audio, iOS only at the moment:-

Today, we’re introducing Vine: a mobile service that lets you capture and share short looping videos. Like Tweets, the brevity of videos on Vine (6 seconds or less) inspires creativity. Now that you can easily capture motion and sound, we look forward to seeing what you create.

You can read more about the app on the Vine blog. Vine is currently available on the iPhone and iPod touch. You can download it for free from the App Store. We’re working now to bring it to other platforms, so stay tuned for that.

Twitter being arses again :fp: http://blog.mikebeas.com/2013/02/13/twe ... uidelines/

The retweet tab had been removed from the latest version of Tweetbot, and you need to update to that new version as the old one will stop working after March 5th due to the new Twitter API.

Since switching to my nexus, Tweetdeck doesn't RT properly anymore. It now just shows as a tweet from me starting with RT @user. Anyone know how to change this back?

TweetDeck, the feature-rich Twitter client that Twitter acquired in 2011, will soon mostly exist as a web-based service, and the native Mac and Windows apps will play second fiddle to the web and Chrome apps. The company is shutting down the AIR-based version of TweetDeck for desktop and will remove the Android and iPhone apps from their respective mobile stores in May. In addition, the TweetDeck team announced today, it will also “discontinue support for our Facebook integration.”

TweetDeck will continue to support its native apps for Mac and Windows, but the clear focus will be on the web and Chrome apps, which, the team writes, will “provide the best TweetDeck experience yet.” The web-based apps will also be the first to get new features, “followed closely by [the] Mac and PC apps.” Given the clear focus on the web apps, it may just be a matter of time before the native apps will also get the ax.

Twitter clearly remains committed to TweetDeck as a tool for power users, and today’s announcement notes that the team doubled in size over the past six months. Most users already use TweetDeck on their desktops and Twitter on mobile. The current versions of TweetDeck for AIR, iPhone and Android still use version 1.0 of Twitter’s API, which is about to be retired over the next few weeks. The apps Twitter is retiring today haven’t been updated in a long time, so in some ways, the writing was already on the wall for them anyway.

The discontinued support for the Facebook integration is only mentioned in one sentence in the announcement (“We’ll also discontinue support for our Facebook integration”), but we have asked Twitter for more details about this and will update this post once we hear more.

:(

Don't know why no one has made a proper app to allow for lists in the same way Tweetdeck does.

At least the newer desktop version of TweetDeck will still work but it was clear ever since Twitter bought TweetDeck that they had no interest in continuing support of the mobile apps since they haven't been updated since that buy-out. I was really hoping they would just fold the mobile apps lists feature into the official Twitter app, but obviously not. Got knows who thought it was a good idea to have access to lists at the bottom of the profile page :fp: Thank god for Tweetbot.

Some of the moves Twitter has made over the past year or so are really puzzling. Locking out devs with the API change and stuff like that.

Is there any way to search for tweets containing a certain username? Lee McKenzie has mentioned tweets she's mentioned regarding a feature she did on the BBC F1 show but if they're direct messages to her, can I not see them?

Thanks.

You cant see DMs, but you should be able to see any replies no problem. Just click a tweet to bring up replies to it, theres also a "load more" option if memory serves. I usually use the tweetcaster app which has a separate section for tweets aimed at a profile, comes in very handy sometimes.

Hmm, I was after DMs I guess. I thought you could see them in some circumstances. Thanks though.

Moving on, do any of you follow Godless Spellchecker? Probably the best account on Twitter.
