I've purposefully kept all my Virtual Console games on Wii, and haven't transferred them to Wii U.

The Wii now acts as my retro machine - all the NES, SNES and N64 classics. The Wii VC library is incredible.

The games also look great too - I've changed the Wii output settings to 50hz, and the TV on non-widescreen mode. The Wii is connected to the TV with a component cable, and the games look crystal clear. That's the best way to play the old Nintendo classics.

As my Wii is now just for VC games, I also don't need to have the sensor bar plugged in, as you can control the entire Wii interface with the Classic Controller - so no more messing about with the Wiimote.

For games I really want to have on Wii U too (or games that didn't make it to Wii like Earthbound), I just buy them new on Wii U. As for my Wii games, I play them on Wii U, which I have connected to a different TV.

SM64 looks great. I don't notice any darkened colours on my set. It's still quite bright. The button allocation is excellent on the gamepad and screen is boxed to the native resolution. I assume you could change the aspect ratio in the Wii U menu but I'm happy enough. Must be the american version as it plays quite a bit quicker than I remember.

Camera is a little bit wonky but man, this game is still damn good   One of the most important video games ever created.

Except that you have to have one to plug your Classic Controller into.

True, but all you need to do is press the A button once - absolutely no pointing and faffing around. Once the Wii home menu hits, the Classic Controller can take over the whole thing - both selecting and playing the games.

I absolutely hate the Wiimote, and will only use it if I have no other choice. It has ruined what would otherwise be fantastic games.

Not 100% sure that's true, but even if you believe that. It makes Resident Evil 4 even better than it was originally, to the point where the HD remakes of the game are subpar because of their lack of that control system.

Been playing through Earthbound for a while after picking it up late last year. I took a break as I got stuck, and went back to it a few weeks ago. As a few people have started playing it after Iwata's death, I thought I'd share my adventure so far in this wonderful game. I love the ability to post to miiverse and capture your thoughts and screenshots and keep memories of your playthrough.

How many games were available on Wii U when it launched? Were they all available on day one, or were they drip fed despite already being on Wii?

It'd be great of there were a tonne of N64 games available day 1 on Switch with the new emulator rather than waiting again.

They were drip fed, and I reckon they will be drip fed again on Switch. Yay.
