The deck collapses due to the cannon and she falls down with the zombies. You get a choice to save her or Jane.

So she can still be alive at the end of the episode if you save her? Dammit.

I would assume even if you try to save Sarah she gets killed by the zombies as she's pretty badly buried under rubble.

That is correct. The story fights back to level it for everyone.

Basically Jane drops down to save Sarah but a piece of wood drops from above and hits Jane in the head, by the time she recovers walkers are on Sarah feasting on that wimpy gooseberry fool. Jane comes back up and you can thank her for trying to help.

I take it there is still one episode to come. I might wait for it to come out before finishing.

My choices for episode 4.

I slapped the gooseberry fool out of Sarah. I blame her father for not wising up and teach her to tough up, like Lee did for Clem in S1.
Didn't steal the meds. Fat lot it did good for me.
Went through the shutter. Saved Lee-Clone.
I saved Jane. Sarah would have die, no matter what as she's buried under the rubble. Good riddance.
Shoot Rebecca.

One thing that fails me: Did Jane actually took the meds? There wasn't an option that suggested otherwise.

Your choices in S1 are really Lee's.

The only substantial thing happened in S2 that carried over from S1 seems to be 400 days add on episode.

Only get it if you really love the games. I know I'll pick it up again when it hits the PS4.

She steals Arvo's gun, hence the theft dialogue still (just about) makes sense, even if the meds were clearly the important thing here.

This is the problem, really - increasingly, different choices seem to be leading to the same endpoint. Perhaps it's a comment on how you can try and do the 'right' thing but it doesn't always make a difference, but I do feel there are occasions here where Telltale could have at least attempted to make more of a point of differentiation.

And they were able to do this in season 1 by having different characters appear depending on who you let live.

The flow of season 1 was so much better than this season. This season isn't bad. I thought the first 3 episodes, particularly the first and second, were really really good. But for the first time in this episode I made a decision I instantly regretted and wanted to go back and change it. But then I realised that it probably would have 0 effect on the rest of the story and played on.

The decision was to axe Kenny's new girl in the face. It felt very extreme and I wanted to go back and not do it. Kenny was pissed at first and then had gotten over it by the last section of the episode. So really, it didn't matter.

The Eurogamer review says that they don't think the writers really know where this season is going and I agree. The first episode really emphasised Clementine's smaller stature in the world and her vulnerability. It was different and fresh and I liked the direction. But that only really lasted one episode and not we're back to these very linear narrative flows with relatively straight forward choices...

I do agree that S1 is much better in terms of story and interaction.

But I do feel that The Wolf Among Us is the much better game.

I was convinced the driving story would be for Clem to find christa, and I still think that's what will ultimately happen. After all the opener makes it clear they spent a long time together just the 2 of them. It's a shame they didn't explore that more fully, there were hints at a mother / big sister relationship but it wasn't really made clear. It would make sense that she should want to find christa since she spent more time with her than anyone else (even Kenny)

I agree, I feel the saving choices don't matter. The first choice felt like it did i chose to save nick and he played a key role in next episode, drunk in shed. Shooting the guy on bridge etc. of course I don't know how it panned out if i chose to save his uncle, probably the same anyway...

Like has been said they could keep core story similar but vary situational dialogue / choices based on who's alive or not.

It would be nice for choices to have consequences but in season 2 it really doesn't feel like they do.

Re Nick and his uncle:

The uncle is bitten. I reckon he'll turn anyway in the shed when you left him to find the others and return. He's destined to die, no matter what.

Will find out if that's true soon as I just went with the uncle on the Vita version.

For me, this season squandered a major opportunity.

They should have been at the camp for more than one episode. Carver was a great villain, and they never really got a chance to explore what life there could have been like. You got a glimpse or two of it, but it felt like it could have been spun out into a number of different scenarios between then and the finale. That way, the last episode could have focused on the attempted escape, which would have made for a fitting climax. Instead, it feels like the writers just want to move to the next 'shocking' death or big decision. It would have given the 400 Days returnees something more to do as well.

While I enjoyed Episode 3 at the time, 4 has made me realise they haven't plotted out this season too well, even if some of the character beats are every bit as good as they were in the first. There's a chance they could pull it around in the last episode, but the difference in quality of the cliffhangers for S1 and S2 is night and day. Suddenly introducing a bunch of new characters with one episode to go is never a good idea.

Tl;dr, after a strong start, it's been a season with great moments but without a satisfying overall narrative.
