The Walking Dead on AMC

Is this still the main topic for this?

Anyway, that was.. an episode of the walking dead.

So strawberry floating boring, the hell was that as a season opener? Classic walking dead logic too, OH this big bit of floor Is cracking, shall we walk Immediately to the sides? Nah, just keep on walking across the middle, take a nice cast iron plow for good measure OH NO THE FLOOR BROKE FML.

Also, before the show fox showed a montage which looked to be part of the intro to the show so we watched it, was recapping all that has happened and then out of nowhere on screen it flashes RICK GRIMES' FINAL EPISODES. Now I know the news, but my Mrs didn't and she's strawberry floating pissed off now she knows that's coming.

Not sure what to make of the season opener, it was alright but nothing special. Not sure if I'm not letting myself enjoy it as we know Rick is leaving kind of soon and I don't think it'll be the same once he's gone.

With the drop in ratings I thought they'd start the new season with more of a bang, but yeah that was pretty dull.

‘Walking Dead’ Season 9 Premiere Is Lowest-Rated in Series History

According to Nielsen data, the AMC series drew a 2.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers. That is the lowest rating in adults 18-49 since the show began, with the previous low being a 2.7 for the series premiere. However, that episode drew only 5.4 million viewers. The Season 9 premiere was also down approximately 50% in the key demo and 47% in total viewers compared to the Season 8 opener, which drew a 5.0 and 11.4 million viewers last year.

This season’s premiere is also flirting with a tie for the series low in the key demo, which was a 2.4 set back during Season 1.

Still triple the ratings of its closest cable show on Sunday night but that's a hell of a drop.

I didn't watch it. I'll wait until Netflix has it, next year.

I wonder why it never occurred to them to not make it completely gooseberry fool. Maybe people would still be watching it.

The worst thing in the entire episode was the "De-Evolution of man" section. strawberry float me that was appalling.

Well enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was part of the time jump didn't make sense. It's clearly 4 years at least but there is still all this animosity with the remaining saviours and seeing at they are struggling to grow food why have they not expanded and integrated them into the other communities.

I also didn't see any dedication to Scott Wilson which pipped me right off.

Also,does Darryl have a woman now? Seemed quite close to that foxy blonde.

Even already though I can't make sense of the whisper people. They still have to scavenge and eat and sleep and gooseberry fool and stuff,surely the other zombies would suss that pretty quickly. I'll have to wait and see how they do it.

Gabriel now looks strawberry floating awesome and Rick looks cool as strawberry float. I don't think they'll kill Rick,they maybe kill Judy and he decides to just wander off on his own.

I still love it. strawberry float the naysayers.

What am I missing with the raid on the Smithsonian? Going there for seeds makes sense, but why did they spend so much effort on taking an ancient wagon and plough? Surely there is plenty of farm equipment still around (they have no trouble running motorbikes, cars and trucks!) that they can use or they can build their own (Eugene can make bullets but not a plough?) why are they grabbing 19th century equipment?

I didn't like that aspect of the time jump either, you'd have thought when the sanctuary was struggling to survive they'd have split it 3 ways and divided them between Alexandria, Hilltop and Kingdom. Granted each of the respective communities wouldn't have liked it at first but could have probably been convinced and would have been a much better scenario before potentially resettling at the sanctuary.

I do agree that Rick and Father Gabrial look great this season, also the Whisperers have never made a load of sense to me as in an post apocalyptic world everyone would either have to settle down and produce their own food or steal it. Scavenging would only be an option for so long (and I doubt it would be anywhere near as long as programs such as this make out).

Yeah the seeds made sense, the rest just doesn't. Surely they've been farming already so can just continue as they are? I get they're trying to give the sanctuary an extra boost but it looks like they're used to farming already now so would have the needed tools so taking extra time and risks just seems pointless.

I understand them taking the plough, they're trying to minimise the amount of fuel they use so I'm guessing the modern tractor pulled ploughs aren't suitable to be pulled by horses and there aren't that many traditional ones around any more.

Maybe they intend to make more of them and want one to use as a design template.

I think one of them said they were going to duplicate it, but why not just take photos (junkyard woman can do that) and get Eugene to copy it rather than take an ancient and really heavy plough?

I thought it was a decent episode. They finally killed Gregory. The farming stuff made sense for the reasons given. It clearly says they’re going to replicate it (the plow) and it also states that they are fast running out of fuel. I think it’s set 18 months after the last episode isn’t it? It’s not four years.

Judith looks about 6 when she was only about 2 in season 8. Also,none of the reasonably main character died in that time jump, highly unlikely.

Gotta suspend that belief I suppose.
