Enjoyed that finale. Not the best season I'll admit but at least it isn't as bad as the first two seasons.

I don't think that was really a plan. She just wanted to die before she could be used against the others. The plan as she ran into the Saviour base however...

Really? The farm was much better than this. At least that serie season has some actual character development and decent conflict between their wants and needs around survival.

One thing that really bugs me that I've not seen mentioned is the soundtrack. The soundtrack used to be so good and was perhaps the best thing that the show has ever had going for it. But this latest season, even the soundtrack has been awful. What's happened to it? It's all just really bad sounding industrial synthy stuff.

The farm had Shane. That's all that needs to be said on that. No matter how gooseberry fool the season was, it had great character work that no one can deny.

Thing is, where does this finale leave us with regards to looking forward to the show. I don't think I've watched a series finale and not given a toss that it was over or given less of a gooseberry fool when it was coming back than one of the last Dexter seasons.

The premises of this show is so wasted. When they were walking towards the shopping trolley barricade, for a split second it reminded me of the last of us, then I got annoyed because this show should have the bleak tension that game has. Should have great dialogue and characters you care about. Not stig of the dump and Tony the Stealth tiger.

The first couple of seasons feel like a completely different show compared to this season IMO, this season had a lot of mediocre/poor episodes and a greater share of silliness. I still mostly enjoyed last season too, the only thing that truly annoyed me about it was the massive cliffhanger.

I'm glad Carol and Morgan have finally woken up though, that's something to look forward to next season at least. To me, this season was a waste of some of the show's best characters. I used to like Darrell too, the progression of his character and his relationship with Carol (and Merle when he was around), but it seems like he's gotten stuck in dull, mumbling mode lately.

Exactly, I rarely get into a slanging match online but comments like that more than merit it. If only I could be arsed.

Didn't think the finale was that bad but I think next season should be the last. Honestly can't see where it can go from here. I still enjoy it but the promise of last season's finale and this season's opener has really not materialised fully. Lets have the all out war - which we know Rick will win and then where does it go from there? Other than rinse and repeat for several seasons? Without some much better plot and character writing than evidenced so far - I can see people starting to desert this in droves.

What about that sub-plot involving the doctor from the first series saying everybody has that certain 'thing' inside them that when people die, they rise up again as a zombie. Did they ever clear that up?

Yeah. As evidenced by every time someone dies they come back as a zombie.

I think the gist of it is that everyone is infected. Some people died straight off from the infection and became zombies. The survivors still carry the disease that reanimates them when they die from natural causes. The only missing bit is why some people survived in the first place.

When did it say some people died immediately from the infection? I had assumed the outbreak started in small numbers (from people dying of natural causes maybe) and then grew gradually, y'know, from zombies eating people.

Someone on another forum had a good idea, the season starts with old man Rick by himself, looking all disheveled, still trying to survive. Imagine seeing that and being like 'wtf?!' Seeing that at the start of the season, from the get go you'll have a lot of intrigue as to why we're at this point.

Trouble is (amongst many) it's all become to predictable, find camp, gooseberry fool goes sour, beatbad guys, need to find new camp and repeat.

That would actually be really decent. Kinda like the first time in Lost where they did that flash forward to a time when they were off the island. I remember seeing that and being genuinely gobsmacked.

I get what you're saying but I'll still happily watch it regardless of plots being rehashed

I've yet to get tired of watching European ladies get covered in sperm after taking a knob up their ass, and that's essentially the same thing.

For it to be worldwide - surely it would start with large numbers of zombies? That would make more sense. I always assumed there was some kind of event that spread the disease and it killed some people instantly. I suppose the high number of deaths across populations would allow it to spread (as you've suggested) as that would generate the required number of infected.

I just like the idea that somehow the whole human race was exposed to a toxin and some were susceptible and others weren't but carried the toxin/ parasite/ virus.
Hmm.

I assumed that "something" happened and it meant that anybody that died after it came back as a zombie and anybody bit by a zombie would become one. A huge number of people die of non-zombie related events every day and that would explain why the zombie numbers grew so quickly.
