PostThe Walking Dead (XBLA, PSN, PC) - Michonne Ep1 Out Now

What we’re doing with the game version is starting completely fresh — the same universe, the same time and place, y’know, it’s in and around Atlanta at the time of the zombie apocalypse, but there’s no Rick Grimes, none of the major characters are in the game in a major way,” Whitta says. “Because how many times can you really keep telling the same story about that one set of characters? [...] So that’s the fun thing, that we didn’t just want to go back and do Rick’s story over again, so we’ve created a completely new set of characters who are — it’s a similar kind of group, it’s a disparate group, and they’re often as much as threat to themselves as the undead are, and there’s all the kind of interpersonal drama that plays out.”

However, he also notes that fan-favorite character Glenn plays a role in the game’s first episode, “and then he goes off to join Rick’s group, so you can kind of see where the universe intersect.”

The first episode of the M-rated game, which Whitta says is “based on making agonizing moral choices,” is expected to be available in April.

So it's just a Zombie game then really? Without the characters that's all it can be.

This quote sums it up:

“Because how many times can you really keep telling the same story about that one set of characters? [...] So that’s the fun thing, that we didn’t just want to go back and do Rick’s story over again, so we’ve created a completely new set of characters who are — it’s a similar kind of group, it’s a disparate group, and they’re often as much as threat to themselves as the undead are, and there’s all the kind of interpersonal drama that plays out.”

I like that idea, his stories been done in the TV Series/Comics right? Leave it to a new set of survivors to give a different perspective.

There was 15 minutes of leaked gameplay, but it seems to have been pulled from everywhere.

This is starting to look very cool.

There's some dialogue footage at 7.05 and some awesome combat at 11.50:

Each ep is going to be $5, or $22.49 for the whole series if you preorder now, but it you pay $42.49 instead, you get Sam and Max (S1-3), Jurrasic Park, BTTF, Law and Order, Hector, Puzzle Agent 1&2 and Strong Bad as well as the Walking Dead.

Pretty amazing deal, if I do say so myself.

Probably, literally everything else Telltale makes has made it on Steam.

First episode is only 450mb. I was expecting at least twice that.

I really like the look of that... But that's possibly just because I'm a sucker for all things zombie. If only it wasn't ALL QTE's.

That's Telltale for ya. The vast majority of their episodes weigh in at about 0.5Gb, and presumably some optimisation has been done due to the fact that it's being simultaneously released on consoles.

This looks a lot nicer than I expected. Shame there isn't a way to go look for Lori and put her out of her misery.

I've been enjoying The Walking Dead, (second series is a bit slow going though), but I don't think I can stomach yet another game with zombies in. Think I'll give it a miss.

If you've had any experience with The Walking Dead before then you'll know that it won't be "yet another game with zombies in", the series has always focused on character interaction and relationships rather than your traditional zombie fighting stuff - that's what sets it apart. Don't see the point in posting in the thread just to say you're not interested, though :?

Half hour in and it's pretty damn good. Needs better audio on the dialogue though.
