Next up, the UB40 conference in Birmingham next month.

Yes, it's real.

Not surprised. The Guardian worship the Wire. I'm assuming you've read the "re-ups" on their site?

A life, Jimmy, you know what that is? It's the gooseberry fool that happens while you're waiting for moments that never come.

 I knew she was quite menacing in the series but I never knew she murdered someone when she was 14

Half the cast have probably murdered someone in real life.

This is still one of my favourite character intros of all time. It wasn't until a few episodes later that I realised she was even a she.

I finished the entire run last night for the first time after watching on and off for the best part of the last year. This is without a doubt the best TV series I've ever watched and since starting it I've not been able to look at other shows in the same way.

My favourite season would probably be 3, but 4 stands a close second. Unlike other shows which probably would have dragged out the original storyline i.e. Stringer Bell not dying, the writers were able to come back with a set of characters which were unique in their own right and equally as appealing/unappealing. I think the issues focussed on in seasons 3 and 4 are by far the most important too as on the surface they actually appear to present good solutions to the problems that the shows deals with. Whether or not the solutions are viable in a real world -season 5 suggests they're not- I don't know, but I watched both seasons in hope that everything would end out ok.

The only real let down for me is the middle of season 5 which I think dips massively in quality and is side-tracked by the whole serial killer thing. The ending is extremely dissatisfying in many ways but that's obviously the effect it was going for and it was clear from the start that there were never going to be any unrealistic happy endings.

This quote from Cheese gave me a laugh. I needs to watch ep 12 of season 4 again.

"Omar had one of them commando squads with him, man. I mean, he had this one ho' pulling guns out her pussy, unc! The gooseberry fool was unseemly, man."

Facepalm at myself. I've only just realised that Walon (mentor to Bubbles) is played by Steve Earle (who did the S5 theme).

Loves us all since 2008

Steve Earle also did the end montage song to season 2, 'I feel alright'.

Re-watched the second last episode of S4 yesterday.

When Michael beats Namond. :(
When Randy is shouting at Carver. :(
When Cheese tells Prop Joe the girl pulled a gun out of her pussy.
When Bubs accidentally kills Sherrod. :(

Last episode will be tough.

"Nawww mayne, ah been schoo'ed mayne!"

I really need to get back to watching this. Friend came over and interrupted me watching S3E1 about a year ago at least and I never went back. :fp:
