zzz

The game looks great. I might do another Witcher 2 playthrough (and do some of choices differently) before third comes out... Still haven't finished first one though (and I don't think I will either)

I've played both main storylines in The Witcher 2. I'd definitely recommend going back and choosing the other path.

Considering all the work they did on W2 after release and MS resources I wouldn't be surprised if this got a DX12 makeover to bump it up down the line.

I think it looks amazing now so I can't wait to see what they can do with the new graphics cards.

The free DLC is also an amazing offer that I hope more games adopt.

Latest build is that but they still haven't confirmed released game resolutions according to vg247.com and other websites.

Not that it matters as DF showed, the difference in real terms is negligable.

Most people have made their minds up on whether they can tell the difference between 1080p and 900p, stop telling people whether it matters or not.

I'm not telling people anything, just making a general comment and contained a reference with it.

No idea why you jumped on me for that.

Some new details from PC Gamer via Neogaf via a German magazine.

o Man's Land features 25 smaller towns, some of which are the size of Flotsam from The Witcher 2.
The game features two really big cities: Novigrad and Oxenfurt, both very lively.
passages with Ciri are like a linear action-adventure, not like a RPG, plays differently and more action-fueled than Geralt's passages (no inventory, no skill tree, depending on the scene Ciri has certain skills)
Ciri sequences will be (in total) 5-10h
Many small details such as Roach stopping to eat apples from a basket
All equipped items are visible in-game on Geralt
best items in game must be crafted
mutagens can be very powerful, like 40% damage enhancer for signs
fist fighting is without QTEs now, it's just like normal fighting with hard and fast strikes and such
there are horseraces similar to RDR, biggest focus on stamina management during races, you can even buy better saddles for horseraces
Geralts beard will grow. You have to go to a barber after a few days
The HUD is fully customizable. Icons and quest markers on the map can also be deactivated. Audiovisual hints (e.g. people screaming for help) will be present if you wish to do so.
Fluid gameplay on 1080p with everything on maximum +nvidia hairworks on GTX 980
game loading time is extremely short on the high-end PC
Ultra settings are impressive, especially the rich vegetation and character models; there can be scenes where difference between high and ultra won't be that noticeable; lighting is impressive: for instance evening light falling on vast flower fields of a parfum-maker
there was indeed no slider or adjustment option for the draw distance/LOD
They encountered very few bugs, no crashes of freezes.

1080p PS4 and 900p XB1 confirmed by CDP. CDP chap (senior games designer) also says he thinks a much bigger change than DX12 would be needed for bump in res for XB1.

My view on resolution is that, yes, you can tell the difference but the real question is whether you actually notice it all whilst playing. When you first see things in high resolution they do have an extra wow factor however ten hours in and it becomes much less of a draw. There will be a few a moments if you happen upon a particular nice vista full of awesome vista and stop to admire the view but otherwise it will go over your head. This probably sounds odd coming from a PC gamer but my view is that it is nice to have as high a resolution as you can but it is not an essential part of the experience.

To kick off this month's IGN First, we have the first 15 minutes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red's ambitious open-world adventure.

We've skipped the opening cinematic and cut straight to the gameplay, as Geralt of Rivia sets out on the final part of his adventure.

Throughout the month, we’ll have loads of new footage showing the complex combat, how to best use magic, and new environments. We’ll also have a detailed hands-on impressions later this week after a spending huge amount of time playing Wild Hunt, too.

Video here - http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/04/06/t ... -ign-first

Every time I watch one of these "opening x minutes" vids I always end up getting annoyed when I'm actually playing the game and I have to sit through it again
