Loved Skyrim but I would happily double dip if it was done in the Witcher 2 engine and with Witcher quality voice acting and combat.

Who are they putting to shame?

Bioware in terms of dialogue and story. Blethesda in terms of the fantasy setting. Most other developers in terms of graphics.

I presume he was talking about the graphics.

So compare the graphics in Witcher 3 to other next gen graphics...I don't see anything that its really 'putting to shame' if you are talking about a level playing field.

Does it put the graphics in Quantum Break to shame? Or The Division? Or The Order? Or MGSV?

Its not really fair to compare it to stuff coming to 'next-gen' in the launch window as they clearly have other priorities.

The visuals are phenomenal but I have a hard time believing it's going to look like that on the consoles. I suppose there aren't many 'next gen' open world games to compare it too but graphically it looks streets ahead of Dead Rising 3, Assassin's Creed IV and Infamous: Second Son. I'll be getting it on PC either way so eye meltingly good graphics, here I come :datass:

All of which are launch or launch window games which can't really be compared as far as I'm concerned.

Like I said, if you compare it to what we've seen of something like the equally phenomenal looking Division, I don't see how you can say it puts that game to shame.

The Witcher 2 makes them all look like a joke too, but you can't make that comparison either, because Hugo.

The Division looks fantastic as well but I think that was PC footage too. You are right that it's very early days for the consoles though so if The Division and Witcher on consoles look as good as those trailers, I will be hugely impressed.

Nabbed the Witcher 2 knowing nothing about the series other than it reviewed well. The power of a good trailer ladies and gentlemen.

I stand by comment even in regards to Witcher 2. It was made on quite a tight budget and is still one of the most beautiful looking games from last gen.

This matters to me particular in view of companies constantly pushing for huge sales and then complaining that they have to sell massive volumes or else they will lose money. The likes of CDP are evidence that you can keep your costs in check, make money and still deliver awesome looking games. There are companies now who spend as much on marketing as they do on actual development. They need to get their gooseberry fool under control.

Do we actually know how much they are spending on this game? As for 'being a smaller developer' they have expanded in the last few years, they aren't really that small a developer at all (and never really were).

Granted they might not have the numbers of people working on the game that a company like Ubisoft throws at its AAA titles, but I don't think they are a lot smaller than any of the developers you might compare them to.

Swiped from GAF via Gamersyde...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt trailer - 1080p HQ verison

Confirmed completely in-engine, real time. Opening shots demonstrate implementation of Nvidia's fur tech, and the results are amazing.

Have we seen any footage of this running on either console? I'm curious to see how good the next gen versions end up looking because the PC version looks stunning, up there with the best looking games due to come out. Hopefully they won't be miles off from what we've seen in the trailers.

Looking through this thread you almost seem a little put out that a smaller development teams' output has been consistently more accomplished than those who are much larger?

They are a studio of 100+ employees so probably 'mid-tier' in terms of size.
