The patches have completely changed this game. Best of this generation? Possibly!

Got to my first city the other day, Oxenfurt, I believe. Unfortunately my FPS did drop a bit too much for my liking but the game runs beautifully smooth in the wilderness so I'm loath to reduce my settings. Perhaps lowering the population will help but I really liked having busy, crowded streets. The town blew me away though. So much detail and incredibly well designed. I took my time walking down all the streets and just soaked in all the atmosphere from the performing bards in the town square to the small barbers further along. After 15 hours spent in the wilderness and tiny settlements, entering a town for the first time was just breathtaking. One of the best moments I've ever had in a game, period.

I absolutely agree, and you're in for a strawberry floating treat when you get to Novigrad which is GTA levels of immersive.

Novigrad is a strawberry floating amazing achievement.

Just fired this up for the first time in what feels like months. Was by some lighthouse where I'd just nailed triss and saw a little ruin off on a coastal edge. Went and got a boat, sailed over and ended up lowering a drawbridge, then going to the top and slaying a wyvern 8-) Also discovered that you can one hit kill those swimming bastard underwater with the crossbow. I spotted another ruin nearby so went towards that and got attacked by a swarm of harpies, which I promptly blasted out of the air and finished them of on the ground. While killing them I spotted a much bigger dragon thing beginning with B down by the water, so I went and killed that off.

All unmarked stuff and a great hour of gameplay unique to me. Such a great game.

Oh I also stumbled on crafting stronger mutegens out of lesser ones, so now my red and blue trees have big bonus damage attached to them.

I've got so much more game to play, still in the area with novigrad at 45 hours. Got to be a good 500 hours in this with all the DLC too.

Also now there's a few of us playing and at different points, can we spoiler box images from now on please? I'm going back and hiding all mine.

Novigrad still blows me away almost three years after the game's release. I quite often hear people say that they felt the game gets tedious in Novigrad but I couldn't disagree more, the underworld plots and addition of more light-hearted content made it such a welcome change from the famine and relentless oppressiveness of Velen.

The effortless tonal shifts are what set Witcher 3 apart from most other RPGs, and stop a several hundred hour game from becoming stale.

Just hit 41 hours play time and I swear 20 of that has been in the city of novigrad alone and I'm STILL questing there

*find a boat bound for Skelliage* Ok I'll finally do tha tonight and move on and oh, oh what, a smell of rotting human flesh, *another quest* Right. That one is done. Back to what I was doing. *find a boat bound for Skelliage* Nearly at the dock now, I'll go and sell some crap in this book shop. What, someone has left a book for me? Who would do that? *another quest*. Right now I'm DEFINITELY going to the dock. *find a boat bound for Skelliage* What's that, a play? You want me to help write it? *aaaaanooooothereerrrrrrr queeeeeest*

Give it another 20 and I might get out of this city

I actually got city fatigue in Novigrad and had to get back out into the woods. I don't think that's ever happened to me in a videogame before.

Music in Skellige

I thought that section was better than all of Skyrim.

I think my eyeballs were so impressed my ears didn’t process the music. Skellige is one of the most impressive areas in modern gaming sans the norn Iron accents.

After getting a little tired of the Sunny DLC area I started a New Game +. I’m really enjoying it with the new graphical fidelity coupled with the smooth framerate. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Just killed the Griffin, it’s good to be back. :datass:

HoS has my favourite mission in the entire game, and possibly of any RPG ever. It's strawberry floating brill.

The sex scene with Shani was almost worryingly long tho. It just kept going

See, I missed that as I told her to have a drink and she threw up on Geralt as they were getting down to it.

The wedding. It was the pig herding that did it.
