It is always hilarious to watch the exasperated idiots replying back "Stop sending these messages to me, some of us have work to do" and simultaneously failing to realise that they are part of the problem!

Started new position on Monday, have yet to receive a laptop, be greeted/formally announced by management, or find out what I'm supposed to be doing.
I'm fairly sure management don't think I start until next month.

I've mentioned it before that at my uni someone signed up to Facebook and various other sites with the all.students@[university].ac.uk address thinking that was their actual e-mail address.

It then proceeded to email every one of about 4000 students constantly every day about every single social media update, until the global mailing list was disabled because of it. Seemingly a load of people signed up to other random and dodgy sites with the same email address just to exacerbate the situation.That AND the situation you describe, it pretty much disabled all student-teacher communications for about 4 days while people replied-all about how stupid this person was (I have no idea why it went on for that long but it did).

It sounds like a nightmare but because we all get on well it actually works really well.

I like the people that haven't grasped what a mailing list is and, when something gets sent that isn't directly aimed at them and their individual interests, will reply all to ask why it's been sent to them. Kinda like those people who comment 'why is this on my timeline, i already have home insurance' on sponsored Facebook posts.

I occasionally get sent WebEx invitations via a mailing list I'm still in but is no longer relevant to me following a change in role. There's probably about 5,000 people in this particular list and last week, some bright spark replied to the entire mailing list to advise that due to their shift pattern, they'll be unable to attend the WebEx sessions for the foreseeable future. It's cute, in a way.

Nah that's normal.

Yeah that's what it's like at our place most of the time as well. We're strawberry floating terrible at "on-boarding" and getting new starters settled in some times, it's embarrassing if nothing else.
