At first I thought that was a nice compliment but now I'm starting to believe he just thinks I'm too loud and need to STFU!

A guy on my team is hard of hearing so he speaks MUCH LOUDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE.

What's even worse is when he is getting exasperated with a customer and he speaks EVEN LOUDER THAN BEFORE. It's a pain in the arse because I can't hear my own customers over him.

We have a guy like that. It’s weird because he’s pretty quiet until he gets into the phone AND THEN HE SHOUTS SO LOUD THE WHOLE OFFICE CAN HEAR HIM.

You guys are obviously just jealous because you lack the commanding vocalisation powers of your colleagues! :slol:

Got my mid year review and my end of probation review tomorrow. My boss has already said that I'll pass the probation but I was never very good at the midyear stuff!

Got back into work today to finally face the music and... my line manager has been in a car accident and signed off for the week . Knew it would all blow over somehow.

Also my team covered my desk and items in post-it notes. Every single one of them said 'It's coming home'. I was finding them hidden in all sorts of places all through the day.

I’m calling it.

To save himself embarrassment, Oblo cut her brakes.

My annual review meeting at work is scheduled for this Friday. Just realised that the date is Friday the 13th - that bodes well then!

If it goes badly, I know a guy who can have your manager's brakes cut...

So what you're saying is not only can you cut my managers brakes but you can get away with it as well? Excellent!

"I know that the market is tough and our competitors are really pushing us, so if it helps you poor managers out then I'll happily do more work for less pay! Also feel free to punish me harshly if I happen to be off sick more than once a decade - I really should know better than to take the piss like that!"

Just had a call about another job I have applied for to do a quick telephone interview, I should be able to progress to face to face I reckon but we shall see.

Good luck!

I always find telephone interviews to be a struggle as it's just so much easier to communicate with someone face to face, but I do understand why they are becoming more popular as it's obviously easier to get through a list of people over the phone to work out those who are worth a physical interview.

Had my annual review today, it went really well which was nice! :toot:

Although it turns out my deduction about the earlier "commanding voice" comment was partly correct - the full feedback was "in an open plan area he should be careful of the volume of his voice - it is very commanding, deep and loud which is very useful at times but he needs to be aware of it!"

I'LL SHOW YOU strawberry floating LOUD! :dread: :fp:

Telephone interviews are probably a struggle for the interviewer too in your case Jenuall, by the sounds of it, with you loudly barking your answers down the phone right in their ear.

Interviewer: "So what would you say were your strengths"
Me: "I'VE BEEN TOLD I HAVE A VERY COMMANDING VOICE!"
Interviewer: "...."
Me: "HELLO! ARE YOU STILL THERE!"
Interviewer: "Apologies, you appear to have ruptured my ear drum and I'm now bleeding profusely from the ear canal."
Me: "SO, DO I GET THE JOB?!"
Interviewer: "... I think we'll be heading in a different direction."

This is genuinely the first I've heard of this though - in 34 years on the planet I've never been told I was too loud before!
