I gave up for those reasons.

WAYY too much text. Didnt understand the battle system.

I need games to click alot quicker than it did...I gave it 2-3 hours.

Story takes a little while to kick in, but it's great. Battle system is amazing.

Giving an RPG 2 hours really isn't long enough.

It's a bit of a slow starter. Playing it for 2-3 hours isn't doing it justice.

One of the best games on DS whatever way you look at it, brilliant and unique gameplay that's always changing up, great RPG elements that develop seamlessly but don't overshadow the action of the combat, and a compelling and engrossing story albeit it slightly marred by its anime cliche's, and that soundtrack.

Unmissable.

I totally do this thing called StreetPass UK and it's real good like.

Another DS game that's so hard to get hold of new, too soon after release (the site mentioned on the first page doesn't seem to have it).

Play Persona 4 for 2 hours and you've barely interacted with the game.

I bloody love TWEWY  Probably my DS game as well as my non-Galaxy game of the generation. I'm not surprised that it's as divisive as it is, but all the crazy stuff in the game clicked with me.

I was actually on a mission to 100% it some time back...probably should return to that :shifty:

I didn't really get on with it, but I never really gave it a chance. There's something about the thought of handheld RPGs which chills me to my very core - can;t actually think of one I've ever sat down and completed, Pokemans aside.

This is my favourite DS game. I adore it

Castlevania Order of Exclesia might be better in my eyes actually :shifty:

Don't you love your PSP role-players though, melly?

Actually, have you played any of the SMT or Persona games?

I actually prefer JPRGs on handhelds these days. Due to sleep modes and portability the genre fits my life so much better.

Still wish Valkryia Chronicles II was a PS3 game though :shifty:

Interesting how opinions on portable RPGs (and handhelds in general) tend to vary. Personally speaking, I prefer not to be limited to a TV+console when playing a game as lengthy as an RPG. Handhelds suit them well for me.

I'll be starting my unplayed copy of that after I finish two of my backlogged DS games. Can't wait

Am interesting to see how I cope with the alleged difficulty though :P

I love the *idea*, but when it actually comes to sitting down and playing them, I can't shake the feeling that I'd rather be going through the process with a pad and a big ol' TV. Dont think I've ever started let alone completed a PSP RPG, emulated version of FF7 aside.

Never played any of the Persona games either. I have Persona 3: FES and Persona 4 sitting unplayed on my shelf, part of the "Great Forgottens of the PS2 Era". See also: God Hand, Grimgrimoire, Odin Sphere, Yakuza 2, Silent Hill 2, all of which I have never touched.

melatonin is gooseberry fool.

Yeah, there's a certain investment you have to put in with a JRPG on the big screen. The knowledge that every time you're sitting down, you're all but duty bound to stay there for a good few hours, and that's not always possible. Play any game for an hour and you feel like you've progressed. Play a JRPG for that length of time or shorter and you feel like you've wasted your time.

Particularly with the way P3P has been redesigned, it feels almost perfect for portable play, all bite-sized chunks of chit-chat and social activities, blended with the piecemeal exploration of Tartarus.

I don't think a P4P is announced, but if it is, I'll be first in line for that one.

Hey, I managed Castlevania 1, I'm ready

...let's not speak about the matter of finishing Castlevania III ;_;

I loved Golden Sun on the GBA and that's about as far as my experience of handheld JRPGs goes. (aside from those darned Pokeymans). Would this still be worth a punt?
