The guys that did the front cover clearly didn't speak English and just grabbed whatever they could find online, as the blurb that they put on there was:

"A terrible, tired piece of filmmaking"

That was about 15 years ago and it still cracks me up.
I've bought loads of pirated VCDs (and then DVDs from Malaysia). Also bought a dual loading DVD player from there (Philips I think). The VCDs used to be pirated from screeners as they would normally be quite good quality but have a message pop up now and again with the name of the company and say it is not for public viewing.

Over the years I bought many DVDs from Malaysia and the quality just got better and better. Subtitles though were slightly ridiculous, these were clearly added and were what the subtitler thought they said rather than what was actually said which ended up making zero sense or being hysterical.

Prior to VCDs I bought a lot of SNES games and videos there (videos were literally straight from cinema with people standing up now and again for that "in the cinema" feel). I didn't realise at the time but all the games were pirated. Cartridges and boxes were great copies and the only give aways were the manuals that sometimes had a page missing or a misprint and a sticker on the cartridges that were supposed to show authenticity, but Nintendo didn't actually include this.

Years later I bought my Xbox there (modified to run those pirate games) and about 100 games.

Malaysia

UK experience is not so good. My wife once called me from Tesco (around 2006) to say there was someone selling stolen flat screen TVs. So I went down to the guys van and all of the TVs were bubble wrapped but you could see what they were. So we bought a Philips for about £300 and then left as he said they were quite hot. Got home to find the screen was cracked and the bubble wrapped remote wasn't even for the same strawberry floating TV.

£300 down the drain and a trip to the tip.

Yes?

I'm almost certain my first desktop computer was a back of the wagon job.

I bought a boy’s bike on eBay which had an image of Mickey Mouse but probably wasn’t authentic, since the only text on the bike says ‘Mickrey’, albeit in the Disney font. Still works though...

Went on a family holiday to Turkey when I was a kid and brought back a load of fake designers clothes.

After wearing a jumper for a few months convinced someone it was real (and unworn) and sold it to him for £40 - I'd bought it for about a fiver.
