Bought some ‘authentic’light sabers from an ad on facebook. Bought three. Got one that looked like it came from a pound shop.

I'd love to own a physical copy of Backstroke of the West.

I got a knock off Power Ranger from a distant aunt who lived in Ireland one Christmas when I was about ten. It was a big 10 or 12 inch one (fnarr), and even though I had a couple of the small real ones, I absolutely loved that big one too (chortle). The best thing about it was the blurb on the box, where they'd made up some usual pound shop bollocks about "the robot city" and "fight with the attackter", but they changed the show's phrase to "Mighty Murpheen", making it the most Irish knock off ever - I still have the toy and box more than twenty years later because it's so awesome.

I bought a Bluetooth headset from Home Bargains on Friday as I needed a headset and I was in there. It was returned the same day because it had a horrible crackle. I know if I'm spending less than twenty quid on something like that I'm not going to get Bang and Olufsen quality, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to be usable. I got a similarly priced wireless running headset from Amazon and that worked really well until it got snapped.

I bought an iPhone cable from Poundland recently and it was dire. I know it was only a pound but I don't expect to see the phone using more power than it was drawing while on charge.

Don't know if it counts but I got a VHS porno off a friend. I think it was all Ben Dover stuff. All of it was full hard core though, I think it was stuff they filmed for themselves. At one point a woman asks why they are doing full hardcore if they can't show it and Ben says it's because they need to get the timing right.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Did a couple of weeks of unpaid work in a hospital in Tanzania (spoiler: everyone in hospital there seems to die...) and one of my friends picked up this authentic BBC documentary from a Tanzanian flea market.

Talking of Ben Dover I swear to God Ive read an anecdote about him having a cheesy knob more than once from multiple different people. I don’t know if it’s some sort of online urban myth...

"A terrible, tired piece of filmmaking"

That was about 15 years ago and it still cracks me up.

I've seen knock of DVD's from China in the charity shop which have random english descriptions on the back of the case.

Just had a look on image search to see if i could find some similar examples, when i happened to stumble across this...

I wondered the same thing.

Denster - same thing happened to Barry on the parapod podcast. He Saw an advert on Facebook and bought one for his mate, and said it was a pound shop knock off

Was he advert the video of someone putting a crystal in the handle and putting it all together? Looked very premium and all metal? I was very tempted to buy one myself.

It is the exact same one. They look amazing but are absolute shat. Every time they appear now I post the picture and tell everyone how utterly gooseberry fool they are.

My mate bought mine as I don’t have a PayPal account. He’s claiming the money back. You have to post them back to China
